~9th October 2023 ~

Hey there, Tri-Heroes!

If your muscles are screaming for mercy and you're considering adopting a penguin waddle, don't fret; it's Recovery Week! So, grab those foam rollers and let's talk shop.

But first, a serious word from our Head Coach – pay attention, folks! Ollie has something to say about commitment and consistency. In case you missed the memo, we've noticed a few folks treating their training schedules like a buffet – picking and choosing. Here's the deal: we're all in this together, and to achieve those ambitious goals, we need you to be on the same page. Life gets busy, we get it, but let's aim to be more reliable than Melbourne weather, okay?

Now, here's a friendly nudge to join the Elwood Life Saving Club. These legends have been our partners for eons, and we're all about supporting our mates. Joining not only means you're part of a fantastic community but also gives you hot showers on training days. Plus, who doesn't want to dodge those pesky parking fees (or fines)?

TriShop aficionados, listen up! You may have noticed that we're expanding. We've got a fantastic team making this happen, including having Kris in charge. Say hi to Kris, people! The small changes we are implementing will make your shopping experience smoother than a freshly shaved leg – efficient and painless.

Calling all parents! Check out the TriKids program. If you want your little champions to conquer the triathlon series (and maybe make some mini-triathlete buddies), TriKids is where it's at. Check it out and spread the word. Might even make your life easier on race day!

Now, back to business. Elwood greeted us with a less-than-ideal welcome last Thursday. But hey, race day doesn't always serve up perfect conditions, right? Besides, the fact that you can't make up for skipped sessions, every athlete, whether you're a newbie or a seasoned pro, needs to work on transitions. Let's see more of those smiling faces in the upcoming sessions.

And just so you don't forget about that epic game last weekend where Collingwood clinched the 2023 AFL Premiership, let's hold onto that winning feeling by shouting out to the daredevils who conquered Around the Bay! Richard May, we salute you for completing the gruelling 220km loop in ride time of just over 9 hours. And Angus Wood, hats off to you for an extraordinary display of endurance, crushing 300kms in ride time of 9.5 hours!  No doubt those legs will need some TLC over the coming days.  And there's more! Chris Dixon (aka "The Machine") was in transit in Dubai for less than 24 hours on the weekend, and surviving on 3 hours of sleep, managed to compete in a 5km fun run at 5:30 am in scorching 38-degree heat. Not only did he conquer the elements, but he also clinched 1st place in his age group and 2nd overall. These three athletes have done us proud!

That's a wrap, but to give you a quick summary of the key points: Recovery Week is here, commitment and consistency are the name of the game, join Elwood Life Saving Club, get ready for a revamped TriShop experience, consider TriKids for the young ones, and let's keep pushing ourselves even when the weather's playing hard to get.

Until next time, keep those pedals spinning, stay awesome, and remember, we're here to support your triathlon journey!

MESSAGE ON COMMITMENT

A Word from the Head Coach

"We have an incredible community of athletes here at Tri-Alliance. You all have ambitious goals, dreams, and aspirations and we are here to support you in achieving them. However, lately, we've noticed a concerning trend – a lack of commitment and consistency in training.

First and foremost, let me preface that this message comes from a place of experienced passion for the sport and a genuine desire to see each and every one of you succeed. I know that you have the potential to achieve great things, but it's essential to understand that success in triathlon, as in any endeavour, relies on respecting the process and guidance from our coaches, and following the carefully crafted training programs.

Triathlon is not just a sport; it's a journey that requires consistent effort and dedication. The path to achieving your goals is not going to be easy, but it'll be in overcoming challenges that you truly grow as an athlete and as an individual.

It's frustrating for us to notice that some of you are struggling to maintain the consistency required for your success. I understand that life can get busy, and there will be days when you feel tired or demotivated. But we’re here to help you to succeed, and for that to happen, we all need to be on the same page and fully committed.

So, here's a challenge to all of you: I want you to refocus your energy and dedication on the journey ahead.

Be the athlete who rises to the occasion, who understand that every training session is a building block toward your goal, and who shows up ready to give their best each time.

We believe in your abilities and your goals, and we know you have the potential to shine. It's time for you to put your words into action – show us what you’ve got!"

ELWOOD LIFE SAVING CLUB

It's Time To Sign

We have had a great partnership with Elwood Life Saving Club for many many years and we truly believe in supporting the amazing work they do. That's why we're encouraging all our members to get behind the club and sign up as a member for the 2023/24 season. Not only will this support our community, and get you access to hot showers on training days, but it will also provide you with the opportunity to be eligible for a foreshore parking pass (will save you loads in parking fees...or fines when you get done for forgetting!).

Associate Membership fees (non-patrolling) for the 2023/24 season are $100. ELSC are also offering a number of training opportunities for their members. So, make sure you get on board and support the local community.

You will need to ensure that you have a current Working with Children Check, which has Elwood LSC and Life Saving Victoria listed as organisations. They will not be able to process your renewals without this.

Once you have your ELSC membership sorted, you can then apply to the City of Port Phillip for a Foreshore Club parking permit. Both are simple processes – juts follow the links below (in order) and get yourself sorted for the season ahead!

TriShop is Growing!

You may have sensed that we're in the midst of some major growth and expansion, and we couldn't be happier about it! 🎉 This expansion isn't just about our awesome TA sessions; it also involves our beloved TriShop. But before we dive into the details, we'd like to take a moment to formally introduce Kris, who now oversees all things TriShop. #HiKris

The changes we're making are a breath of fresh air, and we're seriously lucky to have an amazing team helping us make this happen. What does this mean for you? Well, it means a few cool changes to how you shop and get your orders, making everything way more efficient. So, let's break it down for you.

All the fantastic Tri-Alliance gear you love is now conveniently located under the "Teams Wear" tab in our TriShop.

Our stock primarily resides offsite in a warehouse (for now). Once you place an order, it gets picked, packed, and then it's on its way to you via one of two options:

1. Shipping: If you chose this option, your order will be sent straight to your doorstep.

2. Pickup: If you prefer to grab your gear in person, your order will be waiting for you at the MSAC office.

No matter which way you roll, you'll get an email notification as soon as your order status changes from "processing". Shipped orders will even come with a tracking number. If you're opting for pickup, just know that there's usually someone chillin' in the MSAC office between 9am and 5pm every day, and your order will be right by the door with your name on it. If you're ever unsure, give us a shout to confirm we're there before you swing by.

Got any questions about your order, our products, stock levels, or maybe you want to chat about a unique pickup plan? Hit up Kris and the TriShop team directly at [email protected]. Trust us, they've got all the inside info and can hook you up quicker than Ollie and Michelle can!
