Week one of the winter training block is complete. How did you find it? Were you able to complete some sets? Are you just returning to sessions? Have you settled into a routine? There is, of course, still plenty of time. But, as we move forwards, remember that your words become your actions, and your actions become your habits.
What a fun week of training and racing! We faced a challenging ride in less-than-ideal weather for our first Saturday ride of the next training block. WHAT? WIND AND RAIN? Bring it on, we're ready. The post-ride coffee (yes, coffee AFTER the sessions now) and chats more than made up for it. As for the race for our more ideal sunny weather in Port Macquarie. We may have had a small team heading to IRONMAN Australia, but they put on a great show for us tracking back home. We were told that the bike course for the half was extremely difficult (the new course requires them to go up Mathew Flinders Drive TWICE!). Everyone put in a great effort (see results below), and a special thanks to our Ambassador Jo for looking after our athletes and reporting back to TA HQ.
To add to our exciting race results... Michelle Grocock completed the Margaret River Ultra 80km run! Well done Michelle!!
A very important event this week, is our Athlete Team Meeting tonight. This is the first for the year and all athletes should attend. It's online, so there's really no excuse.
If you don't have any races coming up (or they are too far in the future), check out our upcoming camps to keep you motivated and ready for your next challenge. Mark your calendar for the King's Birthday (formerly Queen's Birthday) long weekend. This camp will give you the kick start for triathlon season build. You won't want to miss out on this!
Timetable Changes: - No Thursday morning until mid-June.
- Introducing Tuesday Mornings with Gary (keep reading below). This will replace Tuesday night wind trainer session.
- Thursday night run sessions at the Tan & Essendon for all winter run sessions.
- Saturday riding will be endurance rides (meeting at Elwood) for May and onto hills after King's Bday (mid-June).
- Sunday long runs move to trail running at Fairfield.
- Friday swim is for intermediate/ advanced swimmers. This is really important. To nurture athletes correctly and to avoid burnout early in the first phase of the program, it's important that athletes follow the Head Coach's program.
