I'm sure many of you and your foam rollers are now inseparable besties. Now, let's rev up for the exciting journey ahead – Build Week 1 kicks off today! It's time to channel your inner superheroes and fully embrace the grind. And guess what? Cue the drumroll because... It's RACE WEEK! Our third showdown in the 2XU series is set for this Sunday, so let's bring the energy, the smiles, and, of course, our A-game.

Race-Recon

Pre-Race Session

The day before race day…woohoo!

Meet at Catani Gardens, before 7am.

First, we will ride one lap of the bike course (approx. 13kms), followed by a run off the bike (1 - 2.5km) and then a swim in the marina. All of this will be at an easy effort to get us ready for race day!

We then set up the TA Taj (Tri-Alliance Tent), this is where we hang out, get ready, keep our bags on race day.

Bring everything, we will be riding on the road so make sure you have lights, a phone, sunglasses, helmet etc.  Wear whatever you feel comfortable riding and running in. Most athletes wear their trisuit to easily ride, run and swim in.

Tri Kids - Helpers Needed

The future stars of our crazy sport will be giving it their all on Sunday morning in the Tri Kids race.  We're looking for some friendly faces to come and give these little ones a hand.  It's super easy, they just need help with:
* lining up in their AGs
* walking to the start line
* being pointed in the right direction
* putting on tops, shorts, shoes (after the swim)
* racking and moving bikes
* encouragement to keep going
* smiles for miles and high 5s all round!

It's a late start! 
Meet at the TA Tent at 9:30am for briefing in transition at 9:50am.  The more the merrier.  Let's get around these gems of the sport!

It feels like it's been a while since we were all together for squad, so let's recap the details as we head into the new year.

Mondays
Interval Session for All levels of swimmers
Outdoor 50M Pool
4 lanes + 2 coaches
6.15pm - 7.30pm

Wednesdays
Interval Session for All levels of swimmers
Outdoor 50M Pool
4 lanes + 2 coaches
5.45am - 7.00am

Fridays 
Endurance Interval Session
For ALL levels of swimmers on Build Weeks
Outdoor 50M Pool
3 lanes + 2 coaches
5.45am - 7.00am

For INT/ADV levels of swimmers on Recovery Weeks

2 lanes + 2 coaches

And while we're at it, there's no better time to brush up on some pool etiquette.  If you're thinking, "Hey, do I really need to know about that?" The answer is a resounding, "YES!"
Not only does it make everyone's swim experience smoother than a dolphin's glide, but it also shows respect for your fellow squad members.

WEEKLY TRAINING SCHEDULE

*** COMPETITION PHASE - Build Week 1 ***

Monday 8th January:

6.15pm - All athletes - Squad Swimming at MSAC. Arrive 5 mins early to begin with dryland band warm up. Outdoor 50m pool. 4 lanes + 2 coaches.

Tuesday 9th January:

5:45am - All athletes – Interval run session at Albert Park Lake with Coach Ollie.

6:15pm - All athletes – Wind trainer session at MSAC. Arrive from 6pm to begin setting up. Meet on Level 1, on the walkway overlooking the indoor pool.


Wednesday 10th January:

5.45am - All athletes - Squad Swimming at MSAC. Arrive 5 mins early to begin with dryland band warm up. Outdoor 50m pool. 4 lanes + 2 coaches.


Thursday 11th January:

5.45am - Intermediate/Advanced athletes - HOT LAPS. Meet outside MSAC main entrance by 5:40am for 5:45am roll out. Tri-Alliance apparel is required.
6:00pm - All athletes - Combo at Elwood Beach:

  • Short Course - a brick session of structured bike/run intervals followed by open water swim/skills.
  • Long Course - a brick session, beginning with an open water swim/skills session followed by a structured run set.
  • Running - a structured interval run set.

6:30pm - TTT#3 - Open Water session at Elwood Beach.


Friday 12th January:

5:45am - All athletes – Squad Swimming at MSAC. Arrive 5 mins early to begin with dryland band warm up. Outdoor 50m pool. 3 lanes + 2 coaches.


Saturday 13th January:

6:30am - Long Course athletes - Long Ride towards Safety Beach. Check programs for distances.

Wear clothing appropriate to the conditions with Tri-Alliance riding gear mandatory.  All riders must be familiar with Tri-Alliance Bunch Riding and Cycling Etiquette policy: Road Cycling Tips - Tri-Alliance Triathlon Club Melbourne

6.45am - Short Course athletes & TTT#3 - Race recon at Catani Gardens, St Kilda. 

9:30am - Try the Tri #4 - Combo and skills session at Catani Gardens, St Kilda.


Sunday 14th January:

7:00am - All athletes - Combo session at St Kilda Beach. Long swim/Long run combo.
Uncoached, but you can meet at the tent, then complete your swim next to the event and your run along the bike course.
