It's recovery week - woohoo! If you have faced the first two weeks of our pre-race training phase head on, there's no doubt you are ready for some recovery...not to mention the addition of our first two races! Make the most of this week, keep moving but keep it cruisey and make sure you're sleeping, eating well, rolling, stretching and relaxing a bit too!

We had another brilliant race on Sunday for #2 in our Tri-Alliance Virtual Race Series, and we are thrilled to see even more people registering and getting involved! Congratulations to everyone who raced, results are in and this week it was about climbing, with the winners receiving a Orca prize pack...but it's not swim gear (this week), it's a bike prize pack! Read on for the full results from Race #2, as well as the leaderboard for the series so far. And if you can't race yourself, tune in on Zoom this week as the broadcast will feature commentary!

Do you know how important a good warm up is? Bike racing is pretty unfamiliar to most of us but fortunately, there's one person who is very familiar with it! Our very own Coach Gaz has taken the time this week to share his wisdom and advice on how to warm up for a race...and just exactly how important a proper warm up is! He has even put together a few (yes, three!) example warm ups for you to try this week. Give it a go and let us know what you think!

This week we also have another healthy recipe to try and there's no better time than recovery week to give something new a go in the kitchen. As always, we also have raining reminders and the opportunity to check in with Head Coach Ollie.

Once again, don't forget to check in with others to make sure they are okay or just to let them know they are missed...or perhaps get out the ruler to see if your 5km zones overlap and plan a picnic! If you can, please reach out if you need some support or someone to connect to during this time. Supporting each other no matter what is the TA way, and the Tri-Alliance family is all stronger for it.

RACE #2 RESULTS

TA VRS 2020 - NL Banner QOM KOM
#TAVRS2020

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who raced on Sunday in Race #2 of the Tri-Alliance Virtual Race Series. Yet again, we had more than 40 athletes across all categories and we were particularly excited to see some new faces signing up and joining in on the fun! Don't forget that with prizes awarded for different categories each week, any time is a good time to get involved!

Race #2 Results are in and this week, it was all about climbing with prizes awarded to Queen and King of the Mountain. You will see both QOM and KOM results, as well as overall race placings in results.

Big shoutout to Coach Scotty for all the work he has been doing behind the scenes to pick the perfect course on Zwift for the race each week. It is awesome to have a coach at the pointy end of the race but don't be deterred, he is there with a big target on his back! Let Scotty be the pacer who pushes you, who inspires you to dig that little bit deeper and go a little harder! It is your challenge, if you wish to accept, to try to beat him!!

Keep an eye out for Race #3 details, all registered athletes will receive an email prior to each race with the course details, distance and/or time, as well as the link to join via Zoom. You can also register via this link to gain access to Zoom to watch along with race commentary!

Thank you to everyone who has shared photos so far, please keep sharing these pics and don't forget to use the hashtag #TAVRS2020 so we don't miss your post, we will feature one alongside results each week!

The Importance of Warming Up

We're two races in to our virtual race series and this week, we bring you wise words and advice from Coach Gaz. Did you know that Coach Gaz is a former Victorian Criterium Racing Champion? Yep! He knows a thing or two about cycling and racing and we thought who better to ask about how best to warm up...and it might just surprise you how much is involved!

Kim Chi Skillet Pancake
Recipe of the week

Here's another healthy meal to keep you fuelled and feeling good as we work our way through the race series. The hero of this recipe is Kim Chi, but before you panic about it being too spicy, you can put as much or as little as you like in so why not give it a go! This recipe is also a great way to use up leftover veggies...win win!

Training Reminders

Our virtual training continues with the aim of keeping you happy, healthy, and motivated, and we hope you are making the most of your 2 hours of outdoor time within a 5km radius of your home. With numbers on the continual downward trend, we have our fingers and toes crossed for some additional positive announcements in the coming weeks. As always we will follow the DHHS guidelines and will keep you update accordingly as we plan a return to face-to-face training in the COVID normal world.

If you are lucky enough to have an outdoor pool within your 5km radius, don't forget that your program includes both your Dryland Swim session, as well as your program to be completed in the pool so you can choose between the two...or get strong by doing both!

Our Go Virtual timetable is as below and all sessions can be accessed via the Go Virtual link in your program.
