WE'VE ONLY JUST GOT BACK FROM NOOSA AND HAVE HARDLY UNPACKED...
What an amazing weekend with around 30 past and present athletes attending/participating in the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival. We use the term 'participation' in Noosa, as there is more socialising, frolicking, drinking and dining, rather than racing.
Well done to those who took part in the much-hotter-than-Melbourne weather, used the race as a train-through to an upcoming event and those who hit a personal best. Our girls were out in force with Sammy Woodlands and Steph Anderson both looking amazing out there, Rachel Moycroft smacking out her first OD with loyal support from Cressida, Michelle Grocock with a huge bike PB, Team Elite making it look easy and some of the crew hitting unbelievable speeds descending Garmin Hill. The boys were pretty amazing too and all had solid days - Kurt, Todd, Brendan, Jamie, Adam, Tim and in case you hadn't heard, newly-engaged Chris Kelly who proposed to his girlfriend race morning! It was also great to see the lovely Irish couple Mal and Rosin with the ultimate preparation of a couple of romantic training session floating down the canal before race day.
Fantastic to have so many team athletes up there as well, Bentley having another great hit out on the bike and run while coach Frankie and Nikki got together to smash the course, despite sporting a couple of existing injuries.
The ultimate shout out goes to Monty Cooper (17) who not only achieved his first Olympic Distance Triathlon but did this with great courage and his own challenges. For those who don't know, Monty nearly didn't finish his race on the weekend. With under 5kms to go he came off, head first, onto the nature strip. This is where he remained until Mum, Juliet and others came to his aid. Ambulance on the way, Monty composed himself and wanted to battle on. Ambulance cancelled and he pushed on after 25min on the sidelines to complete and courageously and bravely finish under the circumstances. Monty - from the coaches and the team we salute you on and amazing finish!
THIS WEEKEND MARKS THE BEGINNING OF THE LONG COURSE SEASON WITH CHALLENGE SHEPPARTON KICKING OFF.
There is an action-packed weekend of racing with several races to choose from in sunny Shepparton. This is the first time in 4 years that there has been a weekend of amazing sun and fun forecast. If you are still thinking of doing a sneaky support race then it might be worth donning the tri gear and heading up for the day. If not up to racing, then feel free to get some troops together and support those who are racing.

We will be having coaching support from Head Coach Ollie and Head Coach Levi from EnduranceTeam onsite. For the first time ever as an initiative we will be sharing our site with EnduranceTeam to bring you our usual 8 x 8m marquee in both TA and ET colours for the weekend. Athletes from Tri Alliance, EnduranceTeam and CCTS will be attending.
Itinerary for pre race training will be a 9:30am Pre Race session starting from the TA/ET Marquee. If you are travelling from Melbourne early it will mean a 6:30am departure time. If you are a little late don't stress you can still head out and do your own session at any time.
Dont miss out on the well received event at a great location supported by the Shepparton Triathlon Community
