The Time Has Come...

🍀Good Luck to our tapering IRONMAN & 70.3 Cairns Athletes🍀
Oh and good luck for the race too 😏

The time has come!  Time for our long course athletes to take on the feat of Ironman Cairns this weekend.  Cairns hosts the 70.3 and the Ironman Asia Pacific Championships this Sunday, plus with the added bonus that all athletes can actually travel to the event this year, it is sure to add another level of depth into this field.  We are so excited for our small, but dedicated crew, who have been working consistently over the last couple of months to get themselves to the start line.  HUGE good luck to them and may the seas be kind (albeit murky), the wind be at your back (or at least have the mental capacity to suck up the inevitable head wind home) and the crowds be there to lift you through the run (literally if need be!).  Check out below to see all our athletes racing.

Does all this talk about FNQ make you think of warmer places and escaping the Melbourne Winter?  Well, a trip to Thailand is just around the corner for many of our athletes.  And if you're still 'thinking' about it, well your time is running out.  In one last push, we've popped in some of our 2019 testimonials so you can hear it straight from the athletes who've been there.  Be warned, you MUST get your name on the list asap!

For those staying a little closer to home (or in fact, a lot closer!), the old nursery rhyme, Rain, Rain, Go Away! come to mind.  Not sure if we are going to be that lucky.,  But did you know...
Running on any given route in the rain makes you feel 50% more hard-core than covering the same route on a sunny day.

And what goes better with rain? Running the trails! Join us on Sunday if you haven't already done so at our Fairfield session. Trail running not only provides a beautiful scenery, but it also has a number of advantages that road running lacks. Michelle Grocock, a trail runner who got her start at one of our Fairfield sessions, owes her passion for the trails to one of our Fairfield sessions. Take a peek at what she has to say below.

A reminder that there is no swim session on Monday due to the Queens Birthday Public Holiday!

My Love and Learnings From Trail Running

A few years ago, after completing a number of Ironman triathlons, I started trail running. Our TA Sunday runs with Greg at Fairfield had given me a small taster, which I loved, and a couple of friends at the time were organising some weekend trail running trips, so I decided to give it a go...
