Sawasdee kha TA-ers.  We've hit Recovery Week, a time to nurture both your body and mind as we gear up for training cycle to follow. So, let's start the week off right, and that’s with a coffee and your favourite read to see what’s happening in TA-land.

Our Thailand training camp at Thanyapura was nothing short of amazing! Our athletes and coaches are returning, proudly exhausted and bursting with new insights. Those 10 days were jam-packed with achievements and learnings, setting the stage for them to charge ahead towards their goals. We've got an updated camp blog, reflections from our athletes, and heaps of exciting video content lined up in the coming weeks. So, get ready to relive the moments and soak in the inspiration!

While we were soaking up the sun, our coaches were keeping a watchful eye on the dedicated athletes back home, training through Melbourne's winter chill. In recognition of their unwavering commitment, we've selected several athletes who truly stood out, and they'll be receiving well-deserved prizes! Your dedication doesn't go unnoticed, and we're here to celebrate your efforts.

Camp fever is still on, folks! The early bird offer for our Pre-Season camp at Queenscliff is closing this week. From September 8 - 10, the camp promises race-specific training, transitions, and other triathlon fundamentals. It's a team event catering to all levels, so mark your calendars and secure your spot for that final training spike before we dive into our preseason preparation phase.

Our brand-new Facebook page exclusively dedicated to Triathlon Training Camps is gaining momentum faster than an athlete on race day! This page is set to be the ultimate hub for all things camp-related. So, give it a thumbs up, spread the word, and let's build a vibrant community that celebrates our camp adventures together.

It's that time of the year again! The 2XU Triathlon Series is officially open, and the event organizers are offering opening specials. But here's the inside scoop: as part of your Annual Membership, you get extra discounts that'll make your wallet smile. We want everyone racing under the yellow-and-blue banner.  Check out the details below and gear up for some an epic season!

Let's take a moment to refresh our memories about the changes to our swim sessions this week. Note the entry routes and the change in time for tonight's session. Rest assured, everything will be back to normal next week, so let's embrace the lane changes and keep that momentum going!

The TriShop has some fantastic new swim fins in stock, and they're ready to make a splash in your training. If you've been on the hunt for these, your search ends here. Order now and have them delivered straight away!

This week's active recovery ride is rolling out from Mordialloc at 7 am. It's open to all athletes, and Coach Gaz is crafting the route according to ability, distance required, and his trademark mood. They say he's open to suggestions, but let's be honest, any suggestions are often dismissed with an explosive snort! It's going to be a fun ride, so don't miss out.

As we dive into this week, let's keep our focus on recovery. Give your body the love and care it deserves, and let your mind find the peace it needs. Remember, recovery is a crucial piece of the puzzle that sets the stage for your next big breakthrough. Embrace it, enjoy it, and nurture that training passion!

Celebrating the Success of Camp

Greetings once again from the tropical paradise of Thanyapura! We did it! Our unforgettable Advanced Triathlon Training Camp has come to an end, and what an extraordinary journey it has been. As we bid farewell to this tropical paradise, let's take a moment to celebrate the tremendous success and growth our athletes have achieved in the past week.

The final days of camp were filled with a mix of emotions – there was a sense of fulfillment for all the hard work put in and a touch of nostalgia as we reminisced about the experiences we've shared. The athletes have pushed themselves to the absolute limit, finding new boundaries along the way and embracing every challenge with unwavering determination.

This past week has been a transformative experience for our squad and coaches. From the very beginning, we knew it was going to be an intense ride.  Since then, they've put in the hard yards, swimming countless laps, cycling through picturesque landscapes, and running endless kilometres under the scorching Thai sun. Every stroke, every pedal, and every step brought them closer to their goals.

But this camp wasn't just about physical exertion; it was a holistic journey of self-discovery. Our athletes faced mental challenges, tested their limits, and emerged stronger and more resilient than ever before. Beyond the physical and technical aspects, this training camp has fostered connections that will last a lifetime. Friendships have been forged and memories have been created.  Each athlete brought their unique strengths to the table, and together, they've grown as a team, pushing each other to new heights.

And let's not forget the wealth of data and learnings they are taking away with them. The testing protocols conducted during the initial days of camp provided valuable insights that our athletes carried with them.  From optimising hydration strategies to fine-tuning their pacing and technique, this data will be the foundation for their future races.

As coaches, we couldn't be prouder of their progress and achievements. They embraced the challenges with open arms and absorbed every piece of feedback.  We're confident that the lessons learned, the data gathered, and the experiences shared will fuel their continued growth and success.

So, as we part ways with Thanyapura, we do so with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit soaring high. This training camp has been an unforgettable experience, and the valuable lessons and experiences gained here will be cherished.

To all our fellow tri-buddies who weren't able to join us this time, we can't wait to share our stories with you. We are already looking forward to future training camps where we can come together, push our limits, and conquer new heights as a team!

Reflections on Camp

"The camp is more than the training it’s about finding space to focus and the people surrounding you.
We join Tri Alliance for our own goals but it’s about the people that make up the club; the coaches the athletes the partners that keep us turning up week on week. This is reiterated once again here in Thailand. Being surrounded by people that are genuinely engaged in the experience and want to get the best not only of themselves but each other.
It has been amazing to find time to connect on rides or over a meal sharing stories and supporting each other on the hard days… I think there were 9 of them 😉
The coaches shared insights and found time to give each of us individual feedback, with sufficient time to unpack them and apply them. While we pushed ourselves to go beyond our own limits it was clear that it was the collective improvement that created such a positive experience.
Doing things that were physically uncomfortable, exhausting and even dangerous (climbing 20 degree hills or running from dogs) for only our own internal reward. The camp builds volume day after day and the mystique of it is that you’re glad each day is over but wish it could go on, indeed camp was about conquering things in ourselves.
For me the biggest takeaway was having the time to focus on each discipline and ultimately find moments of the flow state, see the work of Mihaly it’s fascinating. The investment in taking the time to step away allow for depth and reflection and growth in each discipline."

Celebrating the Boundary Pushers!

As we return from an invigorating and challenging training camp at Thanyapura, we also wanted to acknowledge the efforts displayed by our squad back in Melbourne. We asked our coaches to nominate 9 (one for every day of camp) outstanding individuals who exemplify the essence of our team's spirit. These athletes demonstrated unwavering consistency, unyielding determination, and the willingness to step beyond their comfort zones, mirroring the boundaries that were pushed during camp.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the deserving winners: Erin, Narelle, Chloe, Sri, Shrid, James R, Eugenio, Jo, and Tam!

Your commitment to growth, both as athletes and individuals, serves as a vital foundation for our squad's success. Your achievements remind us of the significant building blocks that define champions.

Congratulations to each one of you for shining brightly.  We have a special surprise for our winners! Rob's company, Worksmith, in their generosity, has kindly donated a bottle of an exquisite beverage of your choice, be it alcoholic or non-alcoholic, for you to savour and celebrate your outstanding achievements!
Cheers to your hard work and dedication!
