1. WORD FROM THE COACHES

WORD FROM THE COACHES

This week's newsletter and the past few days of training have been tinged with sadness after the tragic and sudden passing of former Tri-Alliance Coach and friend Ryan Bourke. Ryan was a key member of the coaching team for a number of years being instrumental in helping many athletes achieve greatness and building the squad that we know and love today. In addition to the coaching he was an exceptional athlete with many race wins and podium spots at local and national races.

Our very deepest of condolences go out to Christie, Lyn, Tahlia and all his family and friends during this very difficult time. Bourkey was a much loved man, well respected in the industry and great mate to many. We will all miss him dearly and are all the better for having known him.

Rest In Peace, Bourkey

Monday night's swim squad was a challenging one for the coaches and athletes who knew Ryan but we thank all those who rallied around, gave us a hug and had kind words. We even think it was one of Ryan's nasty sets that was dished out in his honour.

SUNSHINE COAST 70.3

We have a number of athletes racing this coming weekend up on the Sunshine Coast at the Ironman 70.3 Event. We wish them all well and hope they enjoy some sun and warmth! Racing we have: Coach Kat, Michelle G, Jemma H, Shaun P, Michael G and Gary R.

For race info, tracking and results check out the following link: IRONMAN Sunshine Coast 70.3

NOOSA (SOLD OUT!) OR MOOLOOLABAH RACE ENTRY

We have an athlete entry to the sold out Noosa Triathlon this year or the Mooloolabah Standard  (Olympic) Distance in 2018. This is a great opportunity if you missed out on Noosa or are on the wait list. It will be sold under face value to the first in best dressed. If you are interested please email [email protected] for more information. Price is $200.

YOUR PROFILE DATA

Since the launch of the new site most athletes have updated and checked their details are correct and accurate but we do ask that you also ensure your security settings are such that your information is private to yourself (or your friends if you so wish). We have noticed that some athletes details have been set to 'everyone' which in the interests of your security is not recommended. Log in to your athlete profile select the profile section and hit edit - you will now have options under each piece of information to change its properties. There are also further security options under the settings section which can be found by selecting the + button at the end of the top row of icons.

TRAINING UPDATES

There will be options depending on your goals and current level of training for the ride on Saturday. Elwood for a flatter ride, Wantirna for hills and North Road to the Dandenongs for our advanced guys. Check below for more details and times but note that rides with the possible exception of the Elwood ride will be un-coached with coaches heading down to Queenscliff for the pre-season camp.

Apologies for those athletes who arrived late to our Tan run session and could not find the group once started. The session will always begin at the main start of the Tan run opposite the Swan street bridge but depending on the set may then move to another area - e.g Anderson street for hills. This week Coach Frankie is taking the session and will be taking the main part of the set from the top of Anderson Street if you arrive late. Check below for the map.
