The Week That Has It All

We’re calling this one “a bit of everything”, because this week really has it all. Recovery Week, a return to MSAC, the launch of our Summer Timetable, and the first combo sessions of the season. Buckle up, team, spring has officially hit its stride.

🧘‍♀️ Let's Start with Recovery Week

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know the rhythm by now.  The peaks and the pauses, the grind and the gain. This is your exhale week, the one that gives your body the space it needs to absorb all the hard work from the last two. You can’t just stack sessions forever.  Improvement happens when the effort settles.

That means a few changes to the schedule.  No Tuesday morning run and no Thursday morning ride. If you missed them last week… that’s on you. Those sessions were gold. But that’s the beauty of the cycle.  They’ll be back soon, and if you stay consistent, you’ll be fitter and fresher when they are.

💦 Back in the Water - MSAC Reopens

After a week off to make room for the 2025 Australian Short Course Championships, we’re back in business at MSAC. Word on the street is the event was a huge success, and now it’s our turn to make waves again.

That means:
🏊 Monday night swim
🏊 Wednesday morning swim
🏊 Friday morning swim
🚴 Tuesday night wind trainer

All sessions are back on and ready for you to jump straight into. No excuses.  The lanes are open and it’s time to get back into full training flow.

☀️ Summer Timetable Kicks Off 

The clocks have shifted, the evenings are lighter, and we’re officially into Summer Training Mode. You know what that means...combo sessions are back!

Thursday Night: Our first combo session of the season kicks off at 6pm, Elwood Beach. Bring everything (swim, bike, and run gear) and we’ll assess conditions to tailor the session on the night. It’s all about adapting, reacting and preparing for race-day realities.

Saturday Morning: Short Course athletes, it’s your turn for a dedicated brick session, 7am start, Elwood Beach. Arrive on time, set up early, and bring all your gear.

Sunday Morning: Long Course athletes, you’ve got a long swim and long run combo session also at Elwood Beach. It’s all happening by the water now, just how we like it.

🏃‍♀️ Melbourne Marathon - This Sunday

A quick heads-up: the Melbourne Marathon Festival takes over the city this Sunday, which means road closures and traffic chaos. Allow extra time to get to Elwood, and keep an eye on the Facebook group for any updates from the coaches about session logistics.

And while we’re on the topic of running...a massive good-luck shout-out to everyone taking part in the Melbourne Marathon Festival this weekend.  Whether you’re running the full 42.2 km, the half, the 10 km, or the 5 km, you’ve done the work, so go out there, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy every stride.

🙌 A Big Thank You to Coach Greg

As we wrap up the winter schedule, we want to give a huge shout-out to Coach Greg for his Sunday morning run sessions at Fairfield. They were consistently popular, and not just because of the coffee afterwards. Greg’s structured approach to pacing, technique and consistency helped athletes find smoother form, smarter effort and faster results. Those runs were the perfect off-season foundation and now it’s time to put them into practice as we shift into tri-specific work.

This week marks a big turning point. It’s not just Recovery Week, it’s the start of a new chapter in your season. With the return of swim sessions, the launch of summer combos and the build towards race readiness, now’s the time to lean in.

The sessions are there. The coaches are ready. The season is coming.
Take advantage and get on board from the start.
