2XU RACE 4 WRAP UP, NEW MEMBERS, COUNTDOWN TO GEELONG & IT'S RECOVERY WEEK!

try-the-tri-boys

And yet another busy week in the Triathlon World!  Does anyone else feel like there’s just soooooo much going on each weekend that it’s sometimes hard to keep up with?!?!  Or is it just more opportunity for everyone to get involved in this wonderful, crazy sport of ours?  Let’s go with that!

Well, the show rolls on and this week we had an amazing turnout at Race #4 of the 2XU series in Elwood, with athletes earning themselves World Champ qualifying points, a fantastic bunch of TTT athletes graduating from the program with flying colours, many PBs across the day (anyone realise I forgot to bring the bell….whoops!), the Burns Family doing what they do best – and that’s killing it out on course, one of our newer sprint athletes absolutely nailing the run leg breaking 19mins, athletes surviving the apocalyptic jellyfish attack and lots of happy faces making their way up to the podium (including your very proud coaches!)……WOW!  The weekend also saw a couple of TA athletes road tripping to Canberra in search of more World Champ qualifying points, Tegan heading over to SA to compete in the Australian Youth Series and our Geelong 70.3 athletes completing their peak training weekend with only 12 days to go!!!

We have lots of new faces around the squad at the moment, with an enthusiastic group of new athletes graduating from TTT this weekend and another BIG group working towards Race 5&6.  Give them a hand or some friendly advice when you see them next, remember how daunting it was when you first started?  Don’t forget our 2018 Tri Suits have been designed (new and improved fabric!!!) and samples are around for you to see and try (be prepared for lots of prancing).  Pre-Orders are a must and once we hit 30 sales we’ll be able to order them in.

Guess what time it is again…..RECOVERY WEEK.  That’s right!  A reminder that this week is a time to let your body recover, to cement all the hard work you’ve been doing over the last few weeks, to rest a little more, to rejuvenate and to grow stronger.  Therefore, there are NO Tuesday or Thursday morning sessions this week – sleep in!  And check your program and the timetable for the Weekend sessions as volumes and times will be adjusted.

In this addition we also have our Ambassador’s Antics, a Meet Our Family interview, a link to a podcast called “Fuelling Your Intentions” by founder of Shotz Sports Nutrition, Daryll Griffiths and much more, so read on!

AMBASSADOR'S ANTICS

Ambassadors-Antics
#AdventuresOfSharkAndSteph

Our charismatic, pragmatic and energetic Ambassador's never fail to disappoint sharing stories, support and a simple smile at each and every session!

This week, Steph shares with us her experience and reflection of her sprint race at Elwood.  And did you see her Insta take over?  Those stories were awesome and provided many people with an insight into what an athlete goes through and kept those unable to make it to the event, updated throughout the weekend.

Our Ambassadors also have a new initiative, wanting to share the stories of our TA Family with you all.  They'll be interviewing athletes over the next few months and they're beginning with long course athlete (and newly married) Jayde Osborne.  Take a read and learn what makes this ambitious young lady tick!

Get Around Our New Crew

Over the last five weeks, we've had a fresh new intake of Try the Tri athletes  taking the plunge into the sport of triathlon, training with us in the lead up to Race 4 of the 2XU Series.

We wanted to embrace this group, and support them in their journey with training, particularly as they have learned the art of swimming, riding, running and transitions over the last several weeks.

The TTT 4 group all graduated with flying colours and smashed their goals last weekend.  They are energetic, very personable and yes, quite reminiscent of TEAM ELITE! This week they'll be joining in with the main squad, with many already signed up as members, champing at the bit to keep the momentum going.

Give them a smile, introduce yourself, let them know what's going on, impart some wisdom but most of all let's show them how wonderful the TA family really is!

How to Run Off the Bike

Very timely following what most of you would have seen and/or experienced over the weekend.  We cannot stress enough the importance of knowing how to best prepare your body from the change from riding to running.

Make sure you check out the article that Amber, from First Wave Fitness, wrote for WITSUP explaining everything you need to know.

"One of the most unique parts of our sport also happens to be one of the biggest stressors on the body and that is the cycle to run transition. Amber Johnson of First Wave Fitness takes us through the importance of gaining a more functional understanding of your body and staying strong and stable under fatigue, particularly when it comes to running off the bike."

And keep an eye out from the WITSUP crew for part 2 of this article, with exercises and videos to help you nail the ROTB (run off the bike)!
