It's the exciting, charming and compelling weekly read that everyone waits for!
Stay up to date - get all the latest news, hear the athlete blogs, find weekly specials from our great sites and get the lowdown on all important weekend sessions

SPRING INTO ACTION

longest-ride

As it says, time to Spring into Action!  Who wouldn’t want to get out amongst it with the sun finding its way through the clouds.  Such a good time of year to be out running and riding and maybe even getting the toes wet in the open water very soon!

What a busy couple of weeks we are having with racing at the moment.  Trea absolutely SMASHED her 70.3 at the World Champs in South Africa over the weekend, doing herself very proud against the best of the best (read the weekend recap) and we’ve got two more gals lining up next week for their big event.  Make sure you read on to hear how Steph and Sheridan are feeling going into their races.  There was also the Race #2 of the Dualthon series, which doubled as the State Champs, a swim meet at MSAC and how could we not highlight, Jimmy’s return to the wind trainer!!! in his rehab journey.

Important info for this week – with the first final being played at the G on Thursday night, our run session will NOT be at the Tan.  Instead it will move to Albert Park Lake for an interval session (yes, I know the timetable says TT, but it’s not.  It’s intervals.  The timetable reflects the correct time and location to meet.)

There’s a few bits of information to take into account over the next couple of weeks, as Ollie and I take a little step back (from TA life), to embark on a very exciting adventure of our own!  We have a fantastic team around us, who will be holding down the fort in our absence, but communication (and this dear ole newsletter of mine) may take a back seat for short time.  We’d really love your patience during this time and have no fear, we’ll be back before you know it…all rested and rejuvenated, and as the Official First Lady!!!

So, here’s what you’ll need to know:

  • Hoodies have arrived today! They will need to be collected by next Tuesday, or you’ll have to wait until we get back to get your hands on them.  Please send Bondy a message letting me know what session you will be at, and I’ll have it in the van for you to collect.  I’m not going to send them all, so please give me notice.
  • Wind trainer sessions will by BYO trainers on the following dates: 18/09, 25/09 and 2/10. Greg will be coaching the session, but without the van there will be no wind trainers for hire.  Please be prepared for this.
  • Majority of sessions will still be coached, however some long rides may not. Please designate a ride leader, work together and stay safe.
  • Greg will be riding on Beach Rd each Saturday. If you would like to join him, meet in the Elwood car park for a 6:30am departure.
  • There will not be a newsletter for the time we are away   I know…don’t be too upset but as much as I love the weekly therapy of writing this baby, I am not going to be thinking about it while I am enjoying my time in the sun with friends and family.  Soooooo……you’ll be ok.  Anything important will be on FB.  And we suggested getting in touch with the coaches if you have any questions.  Greg, Scotty, Weekesy and Dan are all really friendly guys, so reach out to them if you need to.  Ollie and I will be otherwise occupied!

Ok….I think we’ve covered it all.  I’m starting the wind down now so hopefully this is short and sweet enough to tide you over.  As with last week, if all else fails, just get in touch with us.  We’re happy to clear up anything, so long as it’s before Tuesday!  But for now,  just….R…E…A…D    O…N…!

#AdventuresOfSharkAndSteph

Have you ever seen Ollie riding on Beach Rd, usually in the opposite direction for that particular time of day? Well, chances are it wasn’t Ollie and was in fact his doppelganger, Stephen Tilders! Eddy and Steph had the privilege of getting to know this quiet-achieving, power couple during their time at Thanyapura in Thailand which made them an obvious choice to be next up to share their story and smiles with you all!

SHOTZ SWEAT TESTING

Don't Leave It To Chance!

Do you have a low, moderate or high concentration of sodium in your sweat? Do you know how much sodium you lose in sweat? Did you know that the sodium concentration in an individuals sweat can range from as low as 300 mg to as high as 3000 mg of sodium per one litre of sweat?

Well, Darryl Griffiths from Shotz Sports Nutrition can provide you with all the answers you need and  with the confidence to get you through your race in peak condition.  We’ll be offering a Sweat Testing opportunity during our wind trainer session at MSAC on Tuesday 4th September.  This will help you learn the sodium concentration of your sweat – and by knowing how much you lose, you’ll know how much you need to replace!

Important Details:
* Bookings Essential (must be communicated to Ollie by 2pm Tuesday)
* Cost $149.00
* Payable directly to Shotz via their website
* Bring 2 x bottles of fluids

FREE SHOES

Putting Soles on the Feet of Beautiful Souls

That’s right, shoes…that are free!! Free for children who currently live in poverty and literally can’t afford shoes…or socks for that matter.  This is where I’m calling upon the amazing TA family to PLEASE HELP!

During my recent travels to Sri Lanka, I was fortunate enough to visit a school and meet some incredible young kids. They are the poorest of the poor. They have very little but were so full of life and love.  I am currently taking shoe donations (including socks) with an aim to collect a minimum of 400 pairs – one pair for every child at the school.

Many of us, including our children, siblings, nieces, nephews etc have a pair of runners that don’t see the light of day and just sit in the back of the cupboard. These pre-loved shoes can literally come back to life and potentially be the first pair of shoes these children will ever own. For some, this will be something they will never forget. But please make sure they are still in reasonable condition.

If you can help, please bring whatever you can to training sessions and I will take them off your hands. I will be attending the TA movie night at the Jam Factory also, so you can bring them along then too.  Thank you legends!!

Eddy's Pick of the Week
Hi folks,
Today's recommendation is a special short documentary for all the amazing women from TA. This video is about the world-famous Boston Marathon that was touched by scandal in 1967 when for the first time in its history, a woman officially entered the race.
I (we) will keep fighting for more equality in sports. Always.

Cheers, Eddy.
