THE BEAUTY OF DAYLIGHT

Happy Monday, y’all!  The start of Daylight Savings always provides the sense of better days to come.  I mean, who doesn’t love a sunset over Elwood Beach after a solid training session....ahh, not long to go now!

It's also the beginning of Build Week #1, which is always a good time to remind you to start the day/week/cycle off on the right foot!  Put the plans in motion now to ensure you make the most of your training and have a positive phase.

Thanks to everyone who joined Ollie on Thursday night for a quick Athlete Team Meeting.  Always good to get the squad together, hear straight from the top about the plan going forward and have the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarity and get everyone on the same page.  And one proposal coming out of the meeting was the idea to hold a race simulation event, to replicate those that have been cancelled (or unable to get to) this year.  This is particularly relevant for those building for Melb 70.3 or Busso 70.3 or full.  As was explained during the meeting, the need to continue the build for the original dates is paramount for future progression.  The event simulation would therefore celebrate the end of the program build.  We are now looking for expressions of interest.  If this appeals to you, please complete the EOI form below as soon as possible.  We can begin planning when we have an idea of confirmed participants.

It’s time to start thinking about our return to squad sessions at Elwood, and this reminds us that our friends at Elwood Life Saving Club also need our support.  Their 2021/22 memberships are currently open for registration and renewal.   ELSC do fantastic work for the community, both local and triathlon.  That is why we encourage all our athletes to become ELSC members.

Shout out this week to those who took part in our Friday night trivia!  We changed it up a bit this week and I put everyone to the test with their celebrity knowledge.  Was a bit of fun and, once again, was nice to just hang out and catch up.  All the results below.

And finally, there’s just over a week to go for this round of Garmin specials.  It’s all about multisports watches.  There are three different ranges, with several models so it's best you read all the details below.  The important thing for you to remember, is that these end on 13 October!

Rounding it out with a quote this week, to remind us all that the little things do add up:

There are no secrets to success.

It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.

~ Colin Powell

Long Course Simultation

To replicate long course events being run interstate and to celebrate the end of the program build, we are looking for expressions of interest in participating in a half or full ironman event simulation. This follows on from discussions at the Athlete Team Meeting about the importance of completing a LC build this side of Christmas, before preparing to race LC in 2022.

If this applies to you and you would be interested in completing your build with a race simulation, please complete the attached EOI form.

More specific details will be finalised once we have an idea of numbers.

FRIDAY NIGHT HAPPY HOUR

Trivia Results

Thanks to all those who joined our Trivia Night last Friday. It was all about celebrity mashups!  This time we had a bit of fun trying to work out who was mashed with whom!  Take a look at the pic above to see if you can identify the 2 celebrities in each picture.

The scores were very close at the top (and the bottom!) and after a triple check, here are the results:
1st place - Aurelie
2nd place - Matty (actually it was all his wife, Anita)
3rd place - Jo Wood-Rich (with a little help from the the fam)

We're running Trivia every Recovery Week Friday night whilst we are in lockdown.
