~ 4th December 2023 ~

Another Monday and the events just keep rolling through.  What a weekend...again!

We had athletes throwing their hats in the ring at Ironman and 70.3 Western Australia, Shepparton Aquathlon, and closer to home, the 2XU Wellness Run!  Not to mention Raph taking on the challenge of Patagonman in Chile!

It's so good to see so much participating and racing going on around the place.  Our athletes are everywhere and are excelling.  They are listening to their coaches and following their plans - successfully.  Hint: there's something in that!

Congratulations to everyone who got out there over the weekend.  Let's take that enthusiasm and those endorphins and channel it towards next weekend....which is once again jam-packed with events!

Best of racing luck to everyone heading to Brighton for Race #2 of the 2XU Triathlon Series.  And also to all those heading over to New Zealand to take on Ironman 70.3 Taupō.

The time has come to lock in your spot to the Christmas Festivities.  We want to see you all there!  Be sure to click the link below to purchase your tickets.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or need any advice.  We are always here to help.

Busso Success

What a day for our superstars!
The pictures told a story of determination, joy, and triumph, showcasing our athletes not only smashing the course but doing so with beaming smiles that reflected their genuine enjoyment of the day.

In the early event, four out of five of our 70.3 athletes took on the distance for the first time, demonstrating a massive accomplishment. They followed the coach's guidance and executed their plans. These athletes, through months of tireless work, have earned the right to revel in their success; they should indeed be incredibly proud of themselves.

Simone Weston 6:53:20
(39:14 / 3:04:23 / 2:58:53)

Tilder's journey to his fourth Ironman was a bit of a saga. From a lost bag to a virus and a jellyfish encounter that would deter even the most resilient, he pressed on. Tilder's resilience shone through as he tackled the swim, dominated the bike, and faced the fatigue head-on during the run. His 10th-place finish in a time of 10:38:17 is a testament to his indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment.

On the other end of the spectrum, the charismatic Joey, affectionately known to us as Australia's most eligible bachelor, embraced his first Ironman with style and flair. From start to finish, he wore a contagious smile. His creative dance moves along the run course added a touch of celebration to his achievement. We celebrate Joey not only for his athletic prowess but also for embodying the delicate art of work-life balance that made his big day possible. Joey crossed the finish line in 12:30:52, perhaps marking the beginning of a new chapter.

MSAC Squad Sessions

December is a busy month at MSAC.  They are hosting the Water Polo Australia National State Championships and the Victorian Age Long Course Championships over the coming weeks.  This is great for the venue, but this will impact some of our squad sessions.

This week, there is no squad swim at MSAC on Friday 8th Dec.  Instead, athletes can meet at Port Melb beach for an uncoached open water session.

Next week, there are no squad swims at MSAC on Monday 11th and Wednesday 13th Dec.  We will offer open water sessions at Elwood Beach with Ollie.
We will be back at MSAC on Friday 15th Dec.

And in the last week before Xmas, there is no squad swim at MSAC on Monday 18th Dec.  Ollie will have an open water session at Elwood Beach.  We will be at MSAC on Wednesday 20 and Friday 22nd Dec, before we pause for our Hell Week training spike.

Race Weekend

Pre-Race Session
Meet at Green Point, just before 7am.

First, we will ride one lap of the bike course (10km), followed by a run off the bike (1 - 2.5km) and then a swim. All of this will be at an easy effort to get ready for race day!

We then set up the TA Taj (Tri-Alliance Tent), this is where we hang out, get ready, keep our bags on race day.

Bring everything, we will be riding on the road so make sure you have lights, a phone, sunglasses, helmet etc.  Wear whatever you feel comfortable riding and running in. Most athletes wear their trisuit to easily ride, run and swim in.

Friendly Faces Needed

The future stars of our crazy sport will be giving it their all on Sunday morning in the Tri Kids race.  We're looking for some friendly faces to come and give these little ones a hand.  It's super easy, they just need help with:
* lining up in their AGs
* walking to the start line
* being pointed in the right direction
* putting on tops, shorts, shoes (after the swim)
* racking and moving bikes
* encouragement to keep going
* smiles for miles and high 5s all round!

Meet at the TA Tent at 6:20am for briefing in transition at 6:35am.  The more the merrier.  Let's get around these gems of the sport!
