We have officially bid farewell to Stage 4 Restrictions and everyone has their fingers and toes crossed that we will take the next step in easing of restrictions a little sooner than first thought! There is certainly light at the end of the tunnel - metaphorically and literally with daylight savings this weekend - and with the start of our race series this week, we hope the motivation is starting to kick in with only three months left of the year!

The Tri-Alliance Virtual Race Series kicked off on Sunday and we were so excited to have more than 42 athletes racing Race #1 of the series. Congratulations to everyone involved, we loved seeing photos on social media and reading all the positive messages after what was only the first race, it has made us very happy to see everyone come together and embracing another way of connecting. Results are in and this week it was about the fastest on the day, with the winners receiving a Tri-Alliance prize pack. It won't always be about the fastest athlete though so read on for all the details on what you need to do to be in the running (or riding) for a prize pack!

This week is our second build week and with outdoor pools opening, we know most of those who are lucky enough to have one within their 5km will be jumping at the chance to get back in...let's just hope you take the technique and strength you have been working on in our Dryland Swim sessions with you back into the pool! We have had a bit of a mix bag with the weather over the last week #classicmelbs but with clocks going forward one hour this weekend for daylight savings, it's definitely time to start making the most of the longer days and sunshine, when we have it!

This week we also have another article with some top tips for all those Zwifters out there to get up to speed ahead of Race #2 this weekend, we have our first healthy recipe to try in line with our race series (but don't forget to send your contributions to recipe of the week too), training reminders and as always, the opportunity to check in with Head Coach Ollie.

Once again, don't forget to check in with others to make sure they are okay or just to let them know they are missed...or perhaps get out the ruler to see if your 5km zones overlap and start planning a picnic! If you can, please reach out if you need some support or someone to connect to during this time. Supporting each other no matter what is the TA way, and the Tri-Alliance family is all stronger for it.

RACE #1 RESULTS

#TAVRS2020

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who raced on Sunday in Race #1 of the Tri-Alliance Virtual Race Series. We had more than 42 athletes across all categories and we are so excited to already be hearing about how much fun everyone is having...we even hear there are a few people with #FOMO who may be registering this week to be on board in time for Race #2; and with prizes awarded for different categories each week, any time is a good time to get involved!

Race #1 Results are in and this week, it was all about speed. However, that won't be the case every week, in fact, each week will be different. It could be about power one week and cadence the next, we might tell you in advance...or we might not...nothing like keeping you on your toes! What this does mean is that you will have to be on your game each and every week, but it also means that participation, consistency and giving your best effort will be just as important!

For Race #2 of the series, athletes across ALL categories will ride the same distance (23.2km) and ALL athletes will be required to provide their .csv file for verification of results. All registered athletes will receive an email prior to each race with the course details, distance and/or time, as well as the link to join via Zoom.

Thank you to everyone who shared photos, whether it was the post-race coffee or a snap of your home race setup, we loved seeing it! Please keep sharing these pics and don't forget to use the hashtag #TAVRS2020 so we don't miss your post, we will feature one alongside results each week!

This week all Race #1 winners recieve a Tri-Alliance prize pack, stay tuned for announcement of future prize packs each week! Follow the link below for Race #1 results and instagram post of the week!

Training Reminders

As always we will follow the DHHS guidelines and will keep you update accordingly as we plan a return to face-to-face training in the COVID normal world.
