Conquer the Path Ahead

pre-ride-briefing

What a great week it has been, filled with focused training during Build Week 1 and capped off by a fantastic Saturday ride!  By all accounts, the effort put in by each individual was spot on, and the power of the peloton helped to push new limits.  If you were lucky enough to join the crew for post-ride coffees, you certainly would have felt the endorphins flowing!

[Endorphins (plural noun): Those little magical creatures that make athletes feel like they can conquer the world, all while wearing sweat-drenched lyrca. They're like the supercharged cheerleaders in your brain, waving pom-poms and shouting, "You got this!" Endorphins are nature's way of rewarding your hard work with a delightful cocktail of joy, pain relief, and an irresistible urge to high-five everyone in sight.]

So, next time you're questioning if you should join the gang for a session - lace up your shoes, embrace the burn, and let those endorphins be your personal squad of motivational party animals.

Know where else you can get an endorphin hit??? At our Winter Training Camp in Anglesea!  Thinking back to personal experiences at camp and when training through winter in general, it reminded me that there's a lot more that we work on other than the physical.  Words of inspo below, but the message is clear - take the opportunity.

Introductions are imminent for a new addition to our coaching team.  Some of you may have already seen Elle around at sessions over the last week or so, and she officially comes onboard with Tri-Alliance from today.  We have lots to share about her role (exciting!), her background as an athlete and a coach, but for now please make her feel welcome as she settles into the TA Family.

And finally, a word from one of our coaches, Captain Gaz.  He may have started this version of the G Files a while ago, but it's finally time to share it with you all.  Grab yourself a cuppa, settle in and be ready to go deep, as Gaz considers his place on the evolutionary scale!

Reflect on the week, carrying the satisfaction that you have grown stronger.  Look forward to this week with renewed determination, ready to conquer the path ahead.

Winter Camp - Working on the Mind

Ever thought what else you could be working on at camp?  How about your mental toughness! Resilience, determination, and your ability to never give up.  Certainly keeps me going.

In the coldness, my mind takes flight,
Hitting the road with mental might.
Nature's touch soothes, resilience grows,
Strength and peace in the chilly blows.

Cool whispers untap my hidden strength,
Limits shattered; I go to any length.
In training's realm, doubts fade away,
Boldly I conquer, come what may.

With each shiver, I grow strong,
Confidence rising, fears long gone.
Cool winds challenge, yet I prevail,
Pushing boundaries, I will not fail.

In winter's embrace, I'm reborn,
Mental fortress built, battle-worn.
Training outdoors, where I belong,
Where confidence thrives, and resilience is strong.

The G Files - Episode 8 (possibly)

To those new to these articles, I’m not going to go into an in-depth explanation as to what they are about.  But suffice to say, I just talk about stuff that comes into my head.

Some of it is relevant to triathlon, some of it is just for interest, some of it is humorous and entertaining (hopefully), and some of it will be about the things in life that give me the…. that annoy me!

I actually started writing this one (G Files) during one of our 274 lock downs when I was pondering what I could talk about, and the answer was obvious! I needed to move up the evolutionary scale to….

winter-cycling-gear

“There’s no such thing as bad weather – just bad clothing choices.”

When you’re riding on a cold, wet and windy day, you want to be as warm and as comfortable as you can. We have a guide for those new to Winter riding, to help you avoid learning from a very cold and miserable experience of your own!

The guide talks about a lot of gear and you can wear some or (like me) often all of it at once. The key is LAYERS. Even on the coldest day, you will heat up as you grind up the hills and then become freezing cold as the wind slices through you on the descents or you hit a gully where it appears all the cold air was hiding and waiting to slap you off your bike!
