Welcome back to another week of Tri-Alliance action!

First off, our campers have landed in Thailand and are already sweating it out in the hot and humid conditions. They're on Day 3 of their training camp, soaking up the sun and pushing their limits. It's perfect for maximising training efforts and making those all-important gains.  Seems in stark contrast to us back here in chilly Melbourne. It's alright though, because training through winter breeds resilience! 

We kick off Build Week 2 of our 3-week periodisation cycle. You've just worked your way through Build Week 1, and now it's time to double down and build on that solid foundation. Remember, every session counts. It doesn't matter that Head Coach Ollie and some of our athletes are off enjoying the tropical vibes; your program here is just as important. Missing out means missed gains, and we can't have that!

Rest assured; all sessions are going ahead this week as planned. No excuses! The schedule tweaks are minimal and have been clearly explained below. So, get out there and tick off those sessions.

In other news, the 2XU Triathlon Series has officially launched and registrations are now open! As a Tri-Alliance annual member, you're entitled to an impressive discount starting August 30. Be sure to read all the details below to snag yourself the best deal.

Speaking of deals, AusTriathlon has sent out the updated rules for the race season ahead. It's always good to stay informed, so take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the new regulations. Knowledge is power, after all.

Timetable This Week

The crew has hit the ground running in Thailand, and we hear it's just as planned - hot and humid!  For everyone training back in Melbourne, it's status quo.  You need to continue with consistency and work your way through the sessions of Build Week #2.

To confirm the week ahead:

Monday Swim - No change.  3 lanes & 2 coaches.  Be in the water by 6.15pm.
Tuesday Run - No change.  5.45am from the south end of the lake, for your interval session.
Tuesday Wind Trainer - Change to online.  Find the link in the section below.
Wednesday Swim - No change.  3 lanes & 2 coaches.  Be in the water by 5.45am.
Thursday Hot Laps - Will be uncoached this week.  Remember Ollie's tips and guidance from previous weeks.  Work hard.  Roll out at 5.45am.
Thursday Run - No change.  Meet at The Tan for a 6.15pm start.  Interval programs for all short and long course athletes.  Make the most of the hill work!
Friday Swim - No change.  2 lanes & 2 coaches.  Be in the water by 5.45am.
Saturday Ride - No change.  Refer to notes from Coach Greg to be post in the Symposium and chat groups.
Sunday Run - One location only.  Meet Coach Greg at Fairfield for an 8am long run session.

Our Tuesday night wind trainer session will be held online this week and next week, whilst the crew are over in Thailand.

Coach Greg will be there to guide you through the session, which will be available for both long and short course athletes.

Entries Are Now Open

Get ready to dive into the 2024/2025 2XU Triathlon Series, with registrations now open! There is an opening special for you to start planning your summer of racing.

To sweeten the deal, you will receive the 2024/2025 2XU Tri Series T-Shirt.

Please note the previous registration platform used for the 2XU Triathlon Series (Register Now) has now been updated to a new platform Race Roster, so things will look a little different when registering.

Members will select from a pre-populated list of Clubs and Schools based on the 2024 Series (including Tri-Alliance).  This selection will mean your result is attributed to our club points.

Discounts are currently active on any single or multiple race entries currently, and ongoing. Discounts will not be active on the Opening Special "6 Races for the price of 4" of the 6 Race Full Series Entry. They will be active from the next pricing period beginning August 30th.  

Do the math - you can pay $491 now.  Or from August 30th you will get 20% discount off the Tri Club price of $553 = $442.40!

Race Competition Rules Updated

Do you know all the rules for triathlon?  

No, like do you REALLY know all the rules for a triathlon? 

Each year the AusTriathlon Race Competition Rules are reviewed and updated to ensure the rules reflect the ever-evolving conditions of our sport. Updated rules come into effect on 1 August.

Not the most exciting thing you will ever read, but it is certainly very important.  Especially if you want to avoid a DQ!  There was even a couple of things in there I was surprised to read.  

"Try being informed instead of just opiniated"
