~ 29th April 2024 ~

As we step into the month of May this week, we also kick off a brand-new training phase: Technique & Base Training. This marks the beginning of our Winter Training Season and sets the stage for the months ahead. Technique training is paramount during this phase, laying the foundation for your performance in the upcoming season. Whether it's refining your swim stroke, perfecting your riding technique, or honing your run form, now is the time to focus on building solid skills and base fitness that will carry you through the rest of the year.

Now, onto some pressing matters – our End of Season party is just around the corner, but we need more numbers to make it happen! Another invite was sent out last night, and I'll need final numbers by the end of this week. So please, book your spot or let us know if you'll be joining us as soon as possible.

Who's up for some winter training? We're gauging interest for a Winter Camp, so if you're keen to brave the cold and take your training to the next level, be sure to express your interest on this link below.

Let's take a moment to celebrate the recent achievements of our squad members who competed locally over the weekend. Some tackled the Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride, while the other took on the Mornington Running Festival. Their results are below for everyone to see, showcasing the continued dedication and commitment within our squad.

In exciting news, we're offering a limited-time opportunity to order premium edition Tri-Alliance team shorts! Featuring top-of-the-line chamois for comfort, power band leg grippers for stability, and durable, compressive fabrics for shape retention, these shorts are a must-have for any serious athlete. Sizing is similar to our current TA Cargo shorts, but due to heavier fabrics, we recommend considering one size larger.

Lastly, please take note of some timetable changes starting in May. Specifically, our running sessions on Thursdays and Sundays, which will now be held at new locations.
Message from The General for Sundays at Fairfield: We will be setting good habits from Day 1!  Cold water recovery will be part of the session, so come prepared!
Be sure to check out the details below to stay informed.

In line with this, the swim session next Monday is replaced with an online dryland swim session. Join Ollie to focus on band exercises for building strength and refining technique. Don't miss this chance to enhance your pool performance!

As we take the first step into this new training phase, let's remember: "Success isn't given. It's earned. On the track, on the field, in the gym. With blood, sweat, and the occasional tear."

Dryland Swim Session - Don't Miss It!

Attention all swimmers! Due to a competition taking over MSAC, our swim session next Monday night has been cancelled. However, we're thrilled to offer an alternative: an online dryland swim session.

This session is an excellent opportunity to focus on essential aspects of our training. By incorporating band exercises, we'll emphasise learning the correct techniques for utilising bands effectively, which directly translates to building functional strength by mimicking swimming actions.
Moreover, we'll work on refining our technique, ensuring that the skills we develop on land seamlessly transfer to the water.

Whether you're new to dryland training or in need of a refresher, this session is invaluable.
Ollie will be online to lead demonstrations, offer feedback, and address any questions. Let's make the most of this opportunity to enhance our performance in the pool!

Celebrating our Community

Huge Weekend for Juliet
The Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride showcased cycling prowess over the weekend, as Juliet Cooper, Lachlan Hore, and Anto English fearlessly tackled the challenging routes. Juliet crossed the finish line with a stellar time of 08:37:28 for the 204km route, while Anto finished the 145km course in 04:08:48 and Lachie completed it just behind in 04:44:17. The event, renowned for its scenic beauty and rigorous course, attracted cyclists from across the globe. Our riders must have shown plenty of determination and skill to get the job done. From the squad, we extend our congratulations to Juliet, Lachie, and Anto for their inspiring dedication and perseverance.

Aurelie is Kicking Goals on the Way to Cairns
The Mornington Running Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary on the scenic Mornington Peninsula over the weekend, offering participants a picturesque course along the esplanade from Mornington to Mount Martha. Half of the road was reserved exclusively for the event, ensuring views galore. Aurelie Gruaz flew the TA flag among the participants.  Kudos to her for her solid effort! Finishing the 21km run in 1:58:54.71 is no small feat. Way to go, Aurelie!  And more importantly, we're super proud of the way you are diligently working towards your BIG goal and showing determination and consistency!

MERCHANDISE

blacked-out-triathlon-shorts

Blacked Out Special Edition -
TA Team Cargo Bib-Shorts

This premium edition of the Tri-Alliance team shorts will be available to order one time only, due to a special pricing opportunity from the manufacturer.

These shorts are constructed using a performance Italian knit fabric with "DMR M Tech" resulting in a water repellent finish. We've kept the cargo pockets, as well as pockets in the rear brace to store important items you want to carry securely but don't need quick access to. This time we've added reflective piping to the edges of these pockets for safety in low light cycling.

These shorts come with top line chamois (gender specific) for comfort on long rides, power band leg grippers to stay in place and sturdy, compressive fabrics to maintain shape.

Due to the heavier fabrics though we recommend considering one size larger, if you have a current pair of TA Cargo shorts, the sizing is very similar in this new version.
