WHAT A WEEKEND

tri-alliance-head-chef

Well, who would have predicted that the first race of the local season would become a duathlon!  I mean we all joked about it.  We watched the rain unexpectedly keep falling and after speaking with the boys at ELSC (you don’t want to know), trust me when we say they definitely made the right decision! So, on we went.  But with spirits still high, the yellow and blue army took to the course and made it their own.  We had 6 x 1st places, 4 x 2nd places, 3 x 3rd places and a total of 24 top-ten finishes!!!  Huge CONGRATS team.  Check out all the details (as well as Simon’s recap from Western Syd) in the weekend wrap up.

Exciting times ahead as it’s time to vote for our new Ambassadors!!!!  Use the link below to have your say.  And don’t forget we’ll be combining the announcement next week with a social night at Melb Street Eatz in Elwood.  So, make sure you come along and join in the fun.

Talking about social festivities, one of our key social events on the TA calendar…the Christmas party!  Lawn bowls, BBQ nibbles and festive drinks at St Kilda bowling club from 3pm on 16th December.  Due to the popular success of Stealing Santa, we are expanding this year to include the lads.  So, if you would like to partake in a bit of fun and nonsense, get your ticket NOW.

And we couldn’t wrap up without sending the B I G G E S T and B E S T of best wishes to our Ironman Busso crew who will be taking on the big adventure come Sunday morning!  Stay tuned to the socials for more about who’s racing and their feelings leading in but know that we are all thinking of you and hoping your day turns out the way you want it to and that you achieve your dreams!!!

I’m getting better at the ‘keep it short and sweet’ stuff up top.  So without any more words to add….READ ON team!

GRACIAS ~ MERCI ~ DANKE

We Appreciate All That You Do
We have such an amazing crew (#surroundyourselfwithgoodpeople) and it always impresses us when a job needs to be done, there are a bunch of hands, hearts and happy faces, all willing to jump in and get it done.  And this weekend was no different!  But this time, we wanted to publicly acknowledge the support from these amazing humans, as sometimes they don't like the spotlight, they work hard behind the scenes but EVERYONE should know how awesome they are and how much we APPRECIATE them!  So THANK YOU to...
Our TA TAJ crew:  Ange, Sophie & Mike, Terese, Les, Andrea & Lars, Kristina & Chris, Donna & Justin, Mr Bondy, Gaz, Joey, Olivier, Matt, Shereen, Cooper Tribe, Paddy, Barry, Lexi & Monika ,James and a large TTT contingent!
Tri Kids Helpers: Brendan, Phil, Dan, Juliet, Danni, Nola, Ange, Andy, Les and Steph
Head Chef: Brendan
Caterers: Ange - who made a whole selection of delicious cakes and treats to share and Shereen - who supplied the tent with a bucket load of chips for you all! * NB: These ladies both did this off their own initiative and we were blown away with their generosity.

And we'd also like to acknowledge small acts of kindness that we witness around the squad on a daily basis.  They may only seem little to you, but the culture we have signifies that the Tri-Alliance Family vibes are stronger than ever!  Shout out to Kristina for providing one of our TTT athletes with just the right pedals she needs, to Andy for coming through with the goods (in this case handle bar plugs) and to Noemi for giving one of our juniors a brand new tri top that she couldn't use.  We're sure there are many more of these out there...so let Ollie & I just say THANK YOU again

Have Your Say
We've received so many wonderful nominations for our 2018/19 Tri-Alliance Ambassadors, that we were blown away!  Comments like:
  • I think very outstanding person
  • Doing things the TA way
  • Represents everything I love about people, sport and triathlon
  • Couldn’t meet nicer person
  • Someone to respect and look up to for so many reasons
  • Always happy to share their knowledge and always have a smile on their faces :)
And many, many more.  But the time has come for the squad to vote.  Who do you think should be our new female and male Ambassadors?  All nominees have been notified prior to this NL (if you don't see their name on the ballot paper they reluctantly declined).  Please take the time to share your thoughts on who best displays characteristics such as positive and motivational attitude, consistently trains and attends Tri-Alliance Coached sessions, encourages and supports fellow athletes and has a genuine and strong passion for Tri-Alliance and the sport of Triathlon.
2XU TRIATHLON SERIES

Race #2 - Sandringham
With the season now underway and enthusiasm high, let's ride that wave all the way down to Sandringham for Race #2 of the 2XU Triathlon Series! Put your hand up if you're ready and raring to go!

We currently have 25 athletes signed up to race for Tri-Alliance, but we're sure there are more!  2 reasons; 1/ you're notorious for leaving things to the last minute or 2/ you've signed up to race but haven't linked your entry to Tri-Alliance so are not racing for our team (*insert sad face here*).  Not only can we not see that you are entered, your valuable series points are not included in our tally!
Don't forget....all annual members are entitled to a discounted race entry.  So why wouldn't you do it?  When you enter, select Tri-Alliance, it will prompt you for a password which you just select request and we approve from our end.  Couldn't be easier!
If you'd like to check if you are linked, just shoot Bondy an email.
~
Being 4 years since the last time the race was held in Sandy, we will be running an extra session this week to give Tri-Alliance athletes a lay of the land (and sea) in preparation for race day!
When: Wednesday 28th November (tomorrow!)
Meet: Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham
Time: 6pm
The session will involve swim and run only. So you can leave the bike at home but please bring everything to swim and run, and some extra energy for that hill up to transition
We will also be doing our morning swim at Sandy on Friday 7th Dec and our usual pre-race combo session on Saturday 8th Dec.  Try to get along to at least one before you race!
REMINDER

2018/19 Pricing Structure

Reminder that our new pricing structure comes in to effect from 1st December.  A month ago we sent out communicaiton regarding this.  Here is a reminder:

We are proud to be achieving such great results for all our athletes.  To ensure we can continue to provide you with such exceptional service, we’ll be increasing our fees on all our coaching options, effective 1 December 2018.  For several years, Tri Alliance has absorbed the rising overhead costs, doing everything we can at our end to bring you great value at very reasonable prices and help stretch your hard-earned dollars.  We will always continue to make this effort, but recent times has seen more pressure to expand our services, to accommodate more athletes at sessions, to build systems and increase coaching staff.  With the growing overheads of the business and a price freeze on membership for the last 5 years, it is time to increase membership across the board.  Of course, our decision is not made easily, and we would not increase prices unless absolutely necessary, but we are confident you will recognize that Tri Alliance is still great value, and we appreciate your support.

MOVEMBER

Dan-B-Movember
Going into my 6th Movember I did ask myself the question "Am I doing this again?" and came up with the answer "Yes"
Over the last few years I have had close mates who have had some close mates who have gone through their cancer battles - successfully - so me growing a mo for one month of the year and raising some funds towards cancer research and facilities is a small contribution for a very important cause.  As per previous years the colour with the highest donations wins. Votes need to be in by Thursday 22nd November.
