ANOTHER WEEK CLOSER

Woo hoo…. Recovery Week come at me!  Time to focus on YOU!  Take a moment this week to take stock of where you are at, how you feel, how you are progressing with your training goal and how your body is responding to the load.  Sometimes athletes forget this simple practice of taking notice… a stitch in time saves nine.

Ollie has decided that this is the perfect week for a quick catch up, so we’re scheduling a Team Meeting!  He’s going to outline the plan to round out this year, races in the 2021/22 season, training phases, periodisation, etc.  It won't be a long one (20mins-ish), but Ollie will stay on after his presentation to answer any general questions.  For any personalised training queries, please contact him outside of this meeting.  See details and meeting link below.

In terms of a program update, some of you will have notice the hybrid weekend ride prescribed for you.  Don’t forget this is to take advantage and make the best of both worlds (trainer vs road).  You will have also noticed the switch to the next phase of the training cycle – speed and race conditioning.  This also signifies the move over to your TT bikes (or the re-attaching of the TT bars).  So clear off the dust, give it a bit of TLC and ensure your set up is cherry ripe!   It might have been a while for some of you, so positioning will be paramount.  As will the added reminder to “put your head up” when on the trainer.  Now is the time to condition those upper body muscles to hold your position strong.

Be mindful to check in with updated guidelines surrounding training.  We will continue to aim for the key dates in the government’s strategic plan and will adjust as needed.  News of the increase to a 15kms radius from Wednesday will be welcomed for those rides and runs and don’t forget you can train in a group of 5 (max two households) if you are all double vaccinated.

The Garmin specials this week are all about multisports watches.  There are three different ranges, with several models so it's best you read all the details below.  The important thing for you to remember, is that these end on 13 October!

And finally, we look forward to seeing lots of happy faces on Friday night for a bit of trivia fun!  5:30pm with drink of choice and your thinking caps on.

Getting Back Together - Victoria's Roadmap

We'll do our best to keep you updates with all the dates relevant to us.  Obviously, these are all dependent on government advice, so we will plan for the below and adjust if needed.

* From 29 Sept, you can train in a group of 5 adults (all double vaccinated) from max 2 households within 4hrs and 15kms radius.

* From 26 Oct, community sport permitted outdoors only for training.
Minimum numbers. Fully vaccinated: 50 cap, DQ4.
Outdoor swimming pools reopened.  Fully vaccinated, DQ4, 50 cap.
Changing rooms closed.

* From 5 Nov, community sport permitted indoors
and outdoors with minimum numbers.  Fully vaccinated: Indoors DQ4 and 150
cap, outdoors DQ2 500 cap.
Indoor and outdoor pools opened.  Fully vaccinated: Indoors DQ4 and 150
cap, outdoors DQ2 500 cap.

Of course we will be in regular communication as we learn more about these key milestones and what it means for us.  But you can see that the Nov 5 date is still in time for Race #1 of the 2XU series.  I guess we just have to wait to hear about the decision on mass-participation events.  Regardless, we encourage all athletes to stick to the plan and prepare with those race goals in mind.

*** Note - these are indicative dates and are based on vaccination thresholds and subject to Public Health consideration of epidemiology at the time ***

RECENT RESULTS
Tri-Alliance-On-Running
ON Squad Race

Big shout out to our team of runners who joined forces for the ON Squad Race.

We accumulated points for:

  • The average 5k speed for all our squad members
  • The total average km run per squad member
  • The size of your squad (up to our 50th runner)

And checking the final results this morning, it looks as though we finished 10th in the APAC region and 3rd from the Aussie squads. Not bad for a bunch of triathletes who have been in lockdown longer than anyone else!

It was great to boost the morale, feel like we were working as part of a team again and just to generally be involved!

Shout out to our team members:
Scotty / Ollie / Bondy / Michelle / Nic / Fik / Orlando / Dil / Aurelie / Michael / Steph / Mario / Sheridan / Sammy / Neda / Jimmy / Pammy / Sarah / Megan / Enrique / Orlando / Claire

Sharing of some happy news.  At least someone is able to still get amongst events!!!

Shout out to Janine who recently entered a few running events over in WA to keep her training consistent.  Well done Janine, we all wish we had a similar opportunity but are happy to live vicariously through you whilst we wait for our turn.  Hopefully that's not too far away.
