RECOVERY MONTH

I’m really enjoying these Saturday latte rides!  Once again, we took the crew off Beach Rd on a Tour de Burbs, with a coffee stop at a beautiful café amongst the tress and some surprise visitors who drove and/or ran there to meet us!  This week is our last one, so if you haven’t managed to join yet, then get yourself organised.  We’ll be heading northside, for a roll along the river and coffee by the water.  And then that’ll be it for the 2022 Tour de Latte!

But the biggest news of the week is centred around our Long Course crew who have made it to race week of Ironman Australia and 70.3 in Port Mac.  It’s been a long journey and there have certainly been ups and downs along the way.  Even up until this week it has been touch a go for a few, with the big-C lurking, but we’re proud to say that we will have 10 athletes hitting the course.  We’ve got a start list below, with race numbers, so you can download the app and track their progress.  Wishing them all the very best of racing vibes for a wonderful day.  From the first-timers, the FOMO-ers, and through to the seasoned athletes, we have it all.  We hope their days go just as they have dreamed of and can’t wait to hear all about it when they return.

Which segues beautifully to our End of Season Party!  What better place to have a chat and a listen to a story or three, than at our party?  Particularly with a cocktail in hand!  We are really looking forward to seeing as many of you there as we can.  Remember, everyone is invited.  After all, we are celebrating the season just gone, which would not have been a success without all your efforts.  The details are below, but what we really need is for you to purchase your ticket asap…. please.  That’ll help with catering numbers and finer details.  And please reach out and let me know if you have any dietary requirements, as we will be sure to cater for those as well.

We know lots of you have been thinking about our Thailand Thanyapura camp!  Thanks for contacting Ollie to have a quick chat about expectations prior to booking.  Remember, if you are keen for 10 days in the heat and humidity of Thailand between July 29 – August 7, be prepared to live and breathe the life of a professional triathlete in the ultimate sports and health resort.   Details are below and bookings are now open.  If you’ve ever wanted to take your performance to the next level, then this is one opportunity not to miss.  Deposits are required to reserve your spot.

Enjoy the final week of Recovery Month and get yourself ready to switch into the next phase (Technique and Base Training) from Monday 2nd May.  Note from the Head Coach is that by next week everyone will need to have their resistance bands sorted out and bring them to every swim session.  You have been warned!

Ironman Australia (Port Mac)

We have watched them train, we have seen the hard work and we have witness their grit and determination to get to the start line this weekend of Ironman and 70.3 Australia.  We've inevitably had a few drop off along the way, due to injury and ill-timed COVID setbacks, and tbh...it was still touch and go for a couple right up until this week.  We are now hopeful that the following 10 athletes will toe the line and put all that hard work into action.

IRONMAN

Andrew Moerenhout #191
Alan Viney #445
Paul Martin #682
Michelle Paton #836
Andy Woodrich #908
Ian Carter #977
Mario Staffieri #1312
Gary Rosengarten #1388

70.3

Janine O'Grady #3899
Sheridan Brown #3901

Wishing you all the very best of racing luck for a magnificent day on Sunday.  We will be watching and tracking you from afar, but sending many good vibes your way.

Special shout out to Alan, Paul and Andrew who are all first-timers over the full distance.

"I used this camp in preparation for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Mooloolaba. This camp exceeded all my expectations. Absolutely loved it. Everything included, it really is an athlete's dream there. I was able to get my fitness to the next level and learn a few things along the way like my sweat rate/sodium losses."

We aim to give athletes the ultimate professional training experience, jam-packed with insight and knowledge into significant personal gains that can contribute to overall performance improvements and success. In addition to training for all three facets of triathlon, athletes will also undergo the rigours of sweat testing, time trials, Vo2 max as well as other high-end testing to help you achieve your fitness goals. Athletes will be broken into groups in accordance with fitness levels and abilities, allowing coaches to tailor your 10 days in Triathlon paradise.

With 4-star accommodation, all meals, coaching and testing included over 10 action-packed days, athletes are treated to the life of a professional athlete with incredible facilities to indulge in.

FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH TRAINING
Resistance-Bands
Resistance Bands

Resistance bands are simply a tool that helps you replicate any functional movement, while applying strength-enhancing, muscle-building resistance. As a result, resistance band training will make movements and muscles stronger while simultaneously improving movement coordination.

But...now you need to know where to get your hands on them.  You can check them out on eBay or anywhere really.  Even better if you can find suppliers offering deals for 2 sets (highly recommended as 1 set is only 1 length and you need double to do both arms at the same time).

It doesn't matter where you get your bands from - just make sure they have different tensions (colours) and MUST come with handles.  Shop around!
