Race 6 marked the culmination of the 2023/24 2XU Triathlon Series at St Kilda, and it was nothing short of monumental for Tri-Alliance as we closed out the season with a bang.
The event boasted the largest field seen yet, with an impressive turnout both overall and notably within the Tri-Alliance ranks. Over 100 athletes proudly raced under the Yellow and Blue banner, a testament to the incredible squad that has been cultivated through dedication and teamwork.
While the weather presented some challenges, with early morning winds and a slight chill in the air, conditions were generally ideal for racing. Athletes embraced the conditions, knowing that their training and preparation had equipped them to thrive regardless of external factors.
Tri-Alliance's performance on the day was nothing short of spectacular, with 4 first-place finishes, 7 second-place finishes, and 7 third-place finishes. These results underscored the squad's exceptional ability and determination to succeed. Furthermore, an impressive 20 athletes secured top-10 positions, highlighting the depth of talent and dedication within the team.
In the slightly longer Fun distance race, out of 18 starters, we had: • 1 athlete going sub 50mins for the overall finish time • A further 2 athletes posting sub 52min times for the overall finish time • And a further 3 athletes posting sub 55min times for the overall finish time • Fastest swim was done in under 4mins for the 300m • The next fastest was still a speedy 4:07, followed by a further 5 swimmers under 5mins • 1 athlete broke the 25mins for the 13km ride • 2 more riders were at 25mins • A further 2 riders were under 27mins • Fastest runner broke 14mins for the 3kms • 2 more road runners broke the 15min mark for the 3km run • A further 2 runners posted 15min times for the 3km run

Out of 37 starters for the Sprint distance, we had: • 1 team breaking the 1hr25min barrier for the overall finish time • 1 athlete was right on 1hr25mins + 1 sec for the overall finish time • 2 athletes going sub 1hr30min for overall finish time • A total of 11 athletes finishing in better than 1hr40mins • 2 athletes swam under 12mins for the 750m • A further 4 athletes posted 12min swim times • 3 athletes broke the 47mins barrier for the 26km ride • A further 1 athlete posted a 47min time • a formidable 6 cyclists achieved sub-50-minute times • another 6 cyclists achieved sub-51-minute times • 1 road runner broke the 20min mark for the 5km run • A further 3 broke the 22min mark for the 5km run • A further 3 athletes were just outside this, posting 22min times • Overall, 9 athletes boasted sub-25-minute run times

Out of 32 starters for the Olympic distance, we had: • 1 athlete breaking the 2hr07min barrier for the overall finish time • 2 athletes going sub 2hr20min for overall finish time • A total of 7 athletes finishing in better than 2hr30mins • 1 athlete broke 22mins for the for the 1500m swim • 2 athletes were just behind with 22min swims • A further 4 athletes posted sub 25min swim times • 1 athlete broke the 1hr barrier for the 40km ride • 2 athletes went sub 1hr05mins barrier for the 40km ride • A further 2 athletes posted times better than 1hr10mins • The 2 fastest runners were bang on 40mins for the 10km run • Another road runner was right behind in 41mins • A further 3 broke the 45min mark for the 10km run • A further 2 athletes were just outside this, posting 45min times • Overall, 16 athletes boasted sub-50-minute run times

As the final race of the series comes to a close, Tri-Alliance stands proud of our achievements, knowing that each athlete has given their all throughout the season. The camaraderie, support, and relentless pursuit of excellence that define the TA Family were on full display, leaving an indelible mark on the 2XU Triathlon Series at St Kilda and setting the stage for even greater accomplishments in the seasons to come. Additionally, securing second place in the club series championship adds another layer of pride to our accomplishments, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to strive for the top spot in the next season.
