Congratulations, Squad Superstars!


I hope this message finds you still buzzing with the energy and excitement from our incredible Race Weekend. First and foremost, a massive round of applause to all our short course athletes for an absolutely phenomenal season! Your dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment have truly been awe-inspiring. Each one of you has pushed your limits, chased your goals, and showcased the true spirit of our squad. And the results? Simply outstanding!


Speaking of results, let's take a moment to bask in the glory of our achievements. Our short course athletes left nothing on the course during the final race of the 2XU series in St Kilda. With over 100 of our squad members competing, we painted the town yellow and blue, leaving a trail of determination and grit in our wake. It's moments like these that remind us why we do what we do – the camaraderie, the shared successes, and the sheer joy of pushing ourselves to new heights.


But wait, there's more! On the same day, our Long Course warriors tackled the Ironman 70.3 Geelong with unwavering resolve and determination. And boy, did they deliver! The results speak volumes of your hard work and dedication, and we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of you. You've shown the world what it means to be a part of our squad – resilience, strength, and an unyielding spirit that knows no bounds.  Check out all the results below.

It's the perfect opportunity to come together, share stories, and celebrate the incredible achievements of our squad. St Kilda Race - success

St Kilda Success

Race 6 marked the culmination of the 2023/24 2XU Triathlon Series at St Kilda, and it was nothing short of monumental for Tri-Alliance as we closed out the season with a bang.

The event boasted the largest field seen yet, with an impressive turnout both overall and notably within the Tri-Alliance ranks. Over 100 athletes proudly raced under the Yellow and Blue banner, a testament to the incredible squad that has been cultivated through dedication and teamwork.

While the weather presented some challenges, with early morning winds and a slight chill in the air, conditions were generally ideal for racing. Athletes embraced the conditions, knowing that their training and preparation had equipped them to thrive regardless of external factors.

Tri-Alliance's performance on the day was nothing short of spectacular, with 4 first-place finishes, 7 second-place finishes, and 7 third-place finishes. These results underscored the squad's exceptional ability and determination to succeed. Furthermore, an impressive 20 athletes secured top-10 positions, highlighting the depth of talent and dedication within the team.

In the slightly longer Fun distance race, out of 18 starters, we had:
• 1 athlete going sub 50mins for the overall finish time
• A further 2 athletes posting sub 52min times for the overall finish time
• And a further 3 athletes posting sub 55min times for the overall finish time
• Fastest swim was done in under 4mins for the 300m
• The next fastest was still a speedy 4:07, followed by a further 5 swimmers under 5mins
• 1 athlete broke the 25mins for the 13km ride
• 2 more riders were at 25mins
• A further 2 riders were under 27mins
• Fastest runner broke 14mins for the 3kms
• 2 more road runners broke the 15min mark for the 3km run
• A further 2 runners posted 15min times for the 3km run

Fastest overall: Paul Martin in 0:46:49
Fastest female: Tam Tambyah in 0:50:16
Fastest swim: Paul Martin in 0:3:44
Fastest bike: Paul Martin in 0:23:52
Fastest run: Paul Martin in 0:13:46

Out of 37 starters for the Sprint distance, we had:
• 1 team breaking the 1hr25min barrier for the overall finish time
• 1 athlete was right on 1hr25mins + 1 sec for the overall finish time
• 2 athletes going sub 1hr30min for overall finish time
• A total of 11 athletes finishing in better than 1hr40mins
• 2 athletes swam under 12mins for the 750m
• A further 4 athletes posted 12min swim times
• 3 athletes broke the 47mins barrier for the 26km ride
• A further 1 athlete posted a 47min time
• a formidable 6 cyclists achieved sub-50-minute times
• another 6 cyclists achieved sub-51-minute times
• 1 road runner broke the 20min mark for the 5km run
• A further 3 broke the 22min mark for the 5km run
• A further 3 athletes were just outside this, posting 22min times
• Overall, 9 athletes boasted sub-25-minute run times

Fastest male: Jobe Quick in 1:28:22
Fastest swim: Jono Scott in 11:24
Fastest bike: Paul Lumsden in 46:15

Out of 32 starters for the Olympic distance, we had:
• 1 athlete breaking the 2hr07min barrier for the overall finish time
• 2 athletes going sub 2hr20min for overall finish time
• A total of 7 athletes finishing in better than 2hr30mins
• 1 athlete broke 22mins for the for the 1500m swim
• 2 athletes were just behind with 22min swims
• A further 4 athletes posted sub 25min swim times
• 1 athlete broke the 1hr barrier for the 40km ride
• 2 athletes went sub 1hr05mins barrier for the 40km ride
• A further 2 athletes posted times better than 1hr10mins
• The 2 fastest runners were bang on 40mins for the 10km run
• Another road runner was right behind in 41mins
• A further 3 broke the 45min mark for the 10km run
• A further 2 athletes were just outside this, posting 45min times
• Overall, 16 athletes boasted sub-50-minute run times

In the club series, Tri-Alliance added an amazing 70 points to take out second spot for the series. Final results:

As the final race of the series comes to a close, Tri-Alliance stands proud of our achievements, knowing that each athlete has given their all throughout the season. The camaraderie, support, and relentless pursuit of excellence that define the TA Family were on full display, leaving an indelible mark on the 2XU Triathlon Series at St Kilda and setting the stage for even greater accomplishments in the seasons to come. Additionally, securing second place in the club series championship adds another layer of pride to our accomplishments, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to strive for the top spot in the next season.

Amidst the excitement of Race 6 of the 2XU Triathlon Series at St Kilda, another formidable challenge unfolded at Ironman 70.3 Geelong, where Tri-Alliance athletes tested their mettle in a gruelling long-distance event.

The Ironman 70.3 Geelong presented a different kind of test, requiring endurance, resilience, and mental fortitude over a challenging course. As our athletes tackled the swim, bike, and run legs, they faced the ultimate test of their training and preparation.

Completing a race of this magnitude is no small feat, and every athlete who crossed the finish line deserves recognition and applause. Their dedication, determination, and unwavering commitment to pushing their limits are a testament to the spirit of Tri-Alliance.

WEEKLY TRAINING SCHEDULE

*** COMPETITION PHASE - Recovery Week ***

Monday 25th March:

6:00pm - All athletes – Open Water swim session at Half Moon Bay.

Tuesday 26th March:

5:45am - All athletes – Interval run session at Middle Park.
6:00pm
- All athletes – Wind trainer session at MSAC.

Wednesday 27th March:

5.45am - All athletes - Squad Swimming at MSAC. Arrive 5 mins early to begin with dryland band warm up. Outdoor 50m pool. 4 lanes + 2 coaches.


Thursday 28th March:

6:00pm
 - All athletes - Combo at Elwood Beach:

  • Short Course - a fun and fitness session bring everything for swim/bike/run.
  • Long Course - a brick session, beginning with an open water swim/skills session followed by a structured run set.
  • Running - a structured interval run set.


Friday 29th March:

Good Friday public holiday (no coached sessions).
From Coach Sez: For those looking for a swim this Friday, join me for a OW swim @ port Melbourne. All are welcomed!
Bring yourselves, stoves and hot cross buns!
8am in the water followed by a picnic


Saturday 30th March:

6:30am - Long Course athletes - Long Ride towards Safety Beach. Check programs for distances.

Wear clothing appropriate to the conditions with Tri-Alliance riding gear mandatory.  All riders must be familiar with: Road Cycling Tips - Tri-Alliance Triathlon Club Melbourne

7am - Short Course athletes - Coffee and cake ride to Mordi.


Sunday 31st March

Easter Sunday - public holiday (no coached sessions).

Monday 1st April
Easter Monday - public holiday (no coached sessions).
