SETTING UP FOR SUCCESS

pain-cave-setup

Hi Team...again!

This is just to give you the most up-to-date info we have, help you get set up for what looks like an inevitable path of self-isolation and get you excited that it's not all doom and gloom.  There'll be plenty to keep you occupied, and most importantly, connected during this time.

Quick rundown of this edition:

* Memberships - changing to Go Solo
* Strength & Conditioning Sessions - get all the equipment you need now, so you will be able to join in the online sessions from home
* Wind Trainers - now is the time to get yours and get it set up.  We have new Taxc and a hire option, but the message is don't wait!
* Online Team Meeting - scheduled for next Wednesday night
* Goal Setting - upcoming event
* Open Water Swimming - option
* Weekly Training Session - overview of what's on your programs (not facilitated sessions)

We are forging ahead positively and are excited by some of the new initiatives we have put in place or have bubbling in the pipelines for you.  Don’t forget to reach out if you need some support and someone to connect to over this time.   We are all here for each one another and will come out the other side stronger.

Make Changes to Your Membership
The GO SOLO membership is now in place and can be activated through the process below.  This is in both Short and Long Course options, and can be found under those categories respectfully.

If you would like to make changes to your current membership level, please do so by logging in to your Tri-Alliance Dashboard.  From here you will see the MEMBERSHIPS tab.  Everything can be easily managed by you, including upgrading, cancelling, signing up, etc.  You will receive email confirmation as soon as you make a change.  If you don't get an email, you haven't done it right!

We are asking all members to please follow this procedure.  With our admin time streched as it is, we simply cannot action all messages, emails and passing conversations in a timely manner.  The best way to ensure this is done, is for you to log on and complete in your time.

We thank you for your understanding.

What Do I Need For Online Sessions?
RESISTANCE BANDS
Resistance bands are simply a tool that help you replicate any functional movement, while applying a strength enhancing, muscle building resistance. As a result, resistance band training will make movements and muscles stronger while simultaneously improving movement coordination.
You can check them out here: EBAY Supplier or we've also found other suppliers offering deals for 2 sets (highly recommended as 1 set is only 1 length and you need double to do both arms at the same time).  It doesn't matter where you get your bands from - just make sure they have different tensions (colours) and preferably come with handles.

FITBALL
Fitballs or Stability balls are more than just fun to sit and bounce on; they’re a great way to improve strength, cardio endurance, and balance. By tackling basic moves on an unstable surface, your muscles will get more bang for their buck.  It’s one of the most versatile bits of equipment in your kit and its potential uses are only limited by your imagination. What’s more, because it’s cheap and lightweight and can be quickly inflated and deflated, it’s one of the first items you should buy to set up a home gym.

LIGHT HAND WEIGHTS

Lighter loads allow movements to be performed through the full range of motion. Lifting overly heavy poundage typically takes the weight through a shorter range of motion, resulting in poorer performance.  When you use lighter weights, the muscles you are targeting are able to manage the load by themselves, without reliance on compensatory muscles to assist in the movement.  Don’t get too caught up on fancy and expensive weight systems.  You can even use some handy household items if you need to!

Think Smart - Get Set Up Now

With most of our training moving online and indoors, now is the time to make sure you have everything you need. And for riding, that's a wind trainer. Take your pick but get on to it now.

We are lucky to have a partnership with Tacx to get the latest and greatest smart trainers for our athletes. Best news...they attract the same *discount* as all our partners!

**** Breaking News...the only TACX Trainers left in the country are the Satori Smart Trainers!

Wind Trainer Comes To You!

Last night we trialled our first online wind trainer session.  Thanks to all those athletes who joined us for an hour of power (and those who just popped in to say hello and watch us work – your turn next time!).  There was smiles and banter and sweat and lots of hand signals from Ollie!  If you joined us, please keep an eye out in your inboxes for the collaborative feedback document.  Your input would be super appreciated.

Tonight, the coaches will be checking out some virtual ride platforms, to hopefully be able to bring you a combination of the two.  Stay tuned.

These sessions will be made available to all programmed athletes in the coming week through your CoachingMate app.  We’re looking forward to hosting many more of these in the future.

Don't forget you can hire a wind trainer from us if you need one!

ONLINE TEAM MEETING

Let's Get The Team Together

The time has come!  Time for you to join us for a virtual get-together, where Ollie is going to address the whole team, outline the plan for the season, talk through training phases, share CoachingMate updates and probably most importantly, host a Q&A to answer all your burning questions.

Wednesday 1st April (no jokes allowed)
                                                 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Your invite will be sent out Wednesday mid-morning.  If you have not received it by mid-afternoon, please email me to let me know.  Remember, as this is linked to your membership, the email will be sent to the same address you have registered to your Tr-Alliance account.

GOAL SETTING

The Opportunity is There

Now is the perfect time to bring back our popular Goal Setting Sessions.  We know many of you missed these last year, and we now find ourselves in the perfect predicament to be able to get a head start this year.

These sessions are a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality.  Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation.

The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve, you know where you must concentrate your efforts. You'll also quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead you astray.

By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals, and you'll see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind. You will also raise your self-confidence, as you recognize your own ability and competence in achieving the goals that you've set.

Stay tuned for the link that will be sent out to all athletes.

OPEN WATER SWIMMING

Elwood-Open-Water
Your New Pool

We are still fortunate to have our local beaches available for open water swimming, so take advantage of them while you can!  Programmed athletes have an open water swim scheduled for today and Sunday, so why not switch it to the bay and turn the arms over outdoors.  This session is to be done in your own time.  There will be no facilitated group session.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t find a buddy, swim together (at 2m apart) and get your training done.

Please observe government guidelines - no gatherings, no change rooms, no hanging out.  Be sensible and responsible.
