Hidey-ho!

We're kicking off Build Week #1, and this is where the magic happens! It's crucial to start this periodised cycle on the right foot, and I know each one of you is up for the challenge. So, let's get straight into this week's news and make the most of the opportunities ahead!

First and foremost, a massive shout-out to all the athletes who rocked the run time trial last Thursday night. Even with the weather playing tricks on us, you conquered it like champs! The data you gathered and the mental achievement of ticking off another time trial is super important. We've got some cool insights in a doc, not only showing raw times but also a comparison from the previous time trial with a % gain/loss chart. This kind of data benefits both coaches and athletes, helping us fine-tune your training plan and getting you to tap into your true potential.

Thailand, here we come! We have a fantastic group of 12 athletes and coaches heading off for our second camp of the year at Thanyapura. They're going to enjoy training like absolute pros (well, maybe "enjoy" isn't the word when there's such strenuous exercise involved). While they're away, training back home in Melbourne carries on as normal. Fear not, we have dedicated coaches assigned to all timetabled sessions, and we expect everyone to turn up and train like rockstars during these build weeks. No slacking off just because the Head Coach is away!

Speaking of camps, mark your calendars for the Pre-Season camp at Queenscliff happening on September 8 - 10. This camp is all about race-specific training, including transitions and other triathlon fundamentals. It's a whole team camp, so all levels are encouraged to join and get that final training spike before we dive into our preseason preparation phase.

It’s been a hot minute, so it’s time to hear from our favourite hippie triathlete, Sam! Check out his epic race report where he conquered CanadaMan. It's always inspiring to learn what our fellow athletes go through and the experiences they have on their journey.

Now, we've got some exciting news for you. The 2XU Triathlon Series is officially launching this week on Thursday, July 27th. There are opening specials from the event organizers, but we want to remind you of the extra discount you get as part of your Annual Membership with Tri-Alliance. We've included how to make the most of it below, so you don’t miss out.

For those among us who are always seeking the latest insights, we've included a YouTube video from GTN. It's a comparison of the riders in the Tour de France to the pro riders in an Ironman. Trust me, it's worth the 10 minutes of your time!

Let's also take a moment to celebrate Mo Arora's fantastic result from last week's Run Melbourne event (which I missed!). Mo completed the 21kms in an impressive 1:42:31. Way to go, Mo!

This week's long ride is from Wantirna, and it's for all athletes. We'll be starting at 7 am, heading for The Dandenongs. Coach Gaz has mapped out the route and it will be prescribed according to ability, distance required, and conditions on the day. Get ready for a scenic ride and some good ol' hill climbing to build strength in those legs!

You should do yourself a favour and visit the TriShop to see all the latest additions - hand paddles, silicone fins, goggles, front snorkels, and more. The comprehensive range of swimming essentials will cater to swimmers of all levels and preferences, ensuring you have the best possible experience in the water.  Did you know there is the convenient payment option?  With PayP@l Pay in 4, making getting your hands on the swim gear you need easier!

As we venture into this week, I encourage each one of you to make the most of every opportunity (as we’ve heard Gaz say many times in the Symposium of late).  Whether it's a training session, a race, or just a chance to improve yourself, seize the day and give it your all!

The Global Triathlon Network (GTN) is the world's biggest triathlon YouTube channel, and is for anyone who loves triathlon: from seasoned triathletes to first-timers – and everyone in between!  They recently delved into comparing the riders in the Tour de France with pro riders in an Ironman.  Interesting listen if you've got a spare 10 minutes.
"Have you got the Tour de France bug? We do too! So, this week we’re going to be comparing TDF riders with pro Ironman Triathletes. What power do they ride at? How does their training and nutrition compare? We will be speaking to Cam Wurf, a man that knows both sides incredibly well! "
