~ 23rd October 2023 ~

Welcome to another week, TA-ers!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, despite the turning of the weather.  Who would have thought Friday to Sunday could be so chalk and cheese….oh yeah, Melbourne!  Anyhoo, enough about weather, it’s time to keep you motivated and informed to get you all the way through Build Week 2.

First things first, did you complete our 2023 Member Survey? Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We’ve started analysing the results to refine and enhance our services to better cater to your triathlon journey. If you haven't had a chance yet, jump onto that faster than a Gaz transition. Your input is genuinely appreciated!

We just launched our first Try the Tri program over the weekend, and the response was fantastic. As much as we all know Les is just like superman, he can’t do it all on his own, and we need your help. If you're available and willing to lend a hand to our newbies, we'd love to have you on board. Let's make this a fantastic start for all our newbies!

Accessing MSAC for wind trainer sessions is easier than you might think. MSAC has provided information to their staff, and I’ve got it here for our athletes, to make the process seamless. Be sure to check it out!

I have to admit I missed three results from the Melbourne Marathon Festival last week, and for that, I apologise. But please know that it doesn't diminish the incredible effort you all put into achieving your results. Well done!

We've learned about three charity spots available for the Noosa Triathlon. The organisers are looking to recoup their outlay, which is $600, a much lower entry fee than the usual $1500 for charity spots. It's all for a good cause, so if you're heading up or were disappointed about missing out, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible for details.

Mark your calendars for our Christmas Party! We'd love to see as many of you there as possible. It's a fantastic opportunity to spend some quality festive time with your triathlon buddies.

We've been proud partners with the Elwood Life Saving Club for ages. Their work is truly incredible. If you're looking to join this fantastic community for the 2023/24 season, you'll not only support a great cause but also enjoy hot showers on training days and the sweet relief of a foreshore parking pass, saying goodbye to parking fees and fines.

We've got the inside scoop on a couple of high-quality bikes for sale, including a TCR and an Ordu. Don't miss out on these gems; check out all the juicy details below.

Train hard.  Train well.  And train with purpose!  Peace out!

TRY THE TRI SEASON

Lending a Hand

We have just kicked off our first Try the Tri session for the season and it was great to see so many new and nervous faces join us for some bike skills! They came such a long way in just one session, but there's still so much to learn.

Now remember back to when you were a newbie in the sport, and everything seemed so foreign. Then, it won't be so hard to remind you all just how far a friendly smile, a moment of your time or some words of encouragement go. So, if you are around at the same time as our Try the Tri newbies, be sure to reach out. And if you feel like getting involved and lending a hand, please let Les know. We'd love to have some support.

Member Access to MSAC

It's great to see these sessions growing week on week, and you'll notice even more from now on with Les running our Try the Tri session at the same time. We've sought clarity of the past week of the best way to access the mezzanine for this session and prevent any issues.

See the following points that have been communicated to MSAC staff and please adhere to the guidelines:

  • Tri-Alliance members are permitted to bring their own bikes into the centre for this session.
  • Members are permitted to walk their bike through Aquatic or Main reception for the sole purpose of this booking.
  • Members with bikes can arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before booking time (5.45pm)
  • Members must exit the Venue with their Bike no more than 15 minutes after the booking has concluded (7.45pm)
  • No member shall ride their bike while in the venue time at any time.
  • Bikes may not be left unattended in the venue at any time.
  • Access and egress pathways on the Mezzanine Blue line must be maintained for the duration of the booking.

ELWOOD LIFE SAVING CLUB

It's Time To Sign

We have had a great partnership with Elwood Life Saving Club for many many years and we truly believe in supporting the amazing work they do. That's why we're encouraging all our members to get behind the club and sign up as a member for the 2023/24 season. Not only will this support our community, and get you access to hot showers on training days, but it will also provide you with the opportunity to be eligible for a foreshore parking pass (will save you loads in parking fees...or fines when you get done for forgetting!).

Associate Membership fees (non-patrolling) for the 2023/24 season are $100. ELSC are also offering a number of training opportunities for their members. So, make sure you get on board and support the local community.

You will need to ensure that you have a current Working with Children Check, which has Elwood LSC and Life Saving Victoria listed as organisations. They will not be able to process your renewals without this.

Once you have your ELSC membership sorted, you can then apply to the City of Port Phillip for a Foreshore Club parking permit. Both are simple processes – juts follow the links below (in order) and get yourself sorted for the season ahead!
