It was another great week of training, and awesome to see athletes pushing through to the end of Build Week 2, to truly earn their Recovery Week starting today!  With short course races dotted throughout the month, it’s important to be smart, follow the plan, and keep your eyes on the prize.  We still have most of our long course athletes, especially those heading to Tassie, training through, so you will continue to see varying sets at the sessions.  Always check in with a coach if unsure.

But we imagine most of your focus this week has been on the Ambassador voting!  And just who will be awarded the Ambassadorship for this season.  Well, the voting closed at 5pm on Friday afternoon and it was a super close contest.  But the wait is over, and we’d like you to meet our newest ambassadors below.   Scroll down to find out.

And we have a couple more congratulations for this Monday morning.  But we’ll also let you read the finer details below.  All we’ll say is that the first one goes to our very own Super Mario!  And the second one goes to an athlete who made it to the top step last week, who I missed in our results!

This week, we have a very important night.  We are really excited to be able to offer all our members the opportunity to hear from an industry expert in the area of performance nutrition.  As you would have now heard, Tri-Alliance and PILLAR are joining forces to provide our athletes the best in professional recovery.  We’re kicking things off with an athlete webinar this Wednesday night.  It’s one not to be missed, so make sure you register for the link.

And finally, just a reminder that with Australia Day this Thursday, there are no coached sessions on the timetable.  As always, you are encouraged to get your training buddies together for a social session or make the most of recovery week and enjoy some down time.  The choice is yours!

Congratulations!

We are thrilled to announce our newest Tri-Alliance Ambassadors - Jo Wood-Rich and Ben Marples!

Both are very excited to step into the role and will have the opportunity to share more about themselves over the coming weeks.  We are sure you will join us in congratulating them and wishing them well on the journey ahead!

We'd like to sincerely thank all of the candidates for accepting their nominations and putting themselves forward.  The voting was very close.  And when we say very close, we mean VERY close.  We had a huge number of members voting across the week and the final results came down to the last day.  It was a true testament to all of these people that so many votes were cast for all of them, and we have let them know just how admired they are.

Thank you to everyone for the part you played in the process.  Tri-Alliance Ambassadors, voted by you, for the season!

Kona Bound

His moment has arrived!  On Friday afternoon, Mario signed on the dotted line for his place on the 2024 Ironman World Championship start line in Kona.  Woo hoo!!!  He secured his place with a thrilling 3rd place finish in Busselton in December, but due to the change of venue for the upcoming World Championship, all allocations had been put on hold, until now.  Mario (rightly so) opted for his race to be in Kona 2024, as opposed to France 2023.
Mario will be sharing his journey with us all over the coming weeks.  So, in the meantime, let's send all our congratulations and well wishes his way!

Missed Result

My sincere apologies to Dianne, who I missed from our official results last week!

Di was grateful for those less-than-ideal conditions we swim in sometimes at Elwood on a Thursday night (if you know, you know), being comfortable in the chop last Sunday, as well as the technique work done on her run.

This netted Di 1st place in the Olympic distance 60-64.  Awesome result!  And now it's onwards and upwards as she prepared herself for Hobart.
