I feel like it’s taken us a whole week to process the massive weekend that was. And so it should! We’re so proud of all the efforts of our athletes over the last couple of weeks, why shouldn’t they enjoy it as long as they can??? All whilst we carry on pushing through Build Week #2 and ever closer to the next recovery week. Stay with it team, not long now!
Thank you for your flexibility with the change of sessions this week. Due to MSAC hosting swim champs, we’ve had the opportunity to get ourselves back in the bay and reacquainted ourselves with some open water swimming. Not for the faint-hearted, but not too bad either. Just make sure you have your wetsuits handy and layer up if needed. The current water temperature is approx. 14 degrees. Triathlon RCR rules dictate wetsuits are compulsory/mandatory below 14c. Until it heats up, we recommend limiting time in the water to under 1 hour and would not encourage anyone without a wetsuit to swim until temp gets to 16 as a minimum.
See below for all changes to the timetable this week. When some changes are unforeseeable and late-notice changes arise, we will immediately post them to our Facebook pages. It’s a good idea to check in there if you need to see the latest info, as well as the timetable located on our website.
This week also saw a return of some old friends, who are joining us again after their winter hibernation ...yay! Welcome back. So now is a timely reminder about safety while riding on Beach Rd. That includes TA kit - NOT under jackets, not covered by a rainbow of colours, not worn inside out, upside down or rolled in the back pockets for later. It means clearly visible for our crew to see and for others to steer clear of and to keep everyone safe. It also means working front AND rear lights. Yes, we know the sun has come up but this again is for safety.
And before we jet, we’ve included the light-hearted blooper reel from TA’s newest media adventure, a reminder that it's time to renew your Elwood Life Saving Club memberships (your golden ticket to hot showers and of course supporting the awesome work that ELSC do), a Save-the-Date for the next round of Technique Clinics and training location updates...read on!
