Welcome to Race Week! It feels good to be saying that again. And even better to be getting you back out there, to put your skills to the test and to regain that taste for competition. Can’t wait for you all to give it your best!
We are still waiting for any last-minute notes from the boys at O2 Events, but it looks as though everything will be going ahead as ‘normal’. Keep an eye out for updated communication from the event, otherwise the plan is: * Race recon Saturday morning * Tent assembly after training * Try the Tri at 9:30am * Tips & Tricks at 12:30pm
If anyone can stay around and help with any of the above, that would be much appreciated. Just check in with the Boss to see where your help is most needed. Many hands will make light work this weekend.
Sunday morning will see all coaches committed to the race and supporting duties, so long course athletes are encouraged to form a group and swim/run together. It would be great to see as many of you as possible swim at Elwood and then complete your run along the bike course to give plenty of shout outs along the way.
We’re still looking for some helpers for the Tri Kids event. They really do appreciate that friendly face walking them to the start line or the strong hands to lift their bike off the rack and they especially like someone tying up their shoelaces when their little fingers are frozen! If you’re able to, please send me a quick email to let me know. Start Times: Tri Kids event – 7am Fun Tri – 7.25am Sprint Distance – 8.40am
Everything else this week carries on as usual. It’s Build Week #2 so you still push as per instructions on your program. Long course athletes and Melb Marathon runners are going hard to get to that finish line, and we commend you on the many hours you are putting in. Mostly behind the scenes for now, but we know it will pay off when you need it. Stay the course!
Please reach out if there’s anything you need, or a coach you’d like to chat to. They are all available to provide support, guidance or help you navigate an area you can’t quite put your finger on. Here’s their contact details again, if now is just the right time: [email protected] | [email protected] | [email protected] | [email protected] | [email protected]
