In case you missed it, we’ve hit Recovery Week Team!  Although we’re sure we don’t have to tell you that.  Majority of you know the drill by now; Build Week 1 (work!), Build Week 2 (keep working!) and Recovery Week (rest and reap the rewards!).  So, this week we’ve included a little article about best recovery practices – great reminder and if you’re anything like us, we’ve realised we’ve been napping all wrong! 

And recovery week is the perfect time to be thinking about body maintenance…enter Lakeside Sports Med.  We’ve put them in the spotlight this week to highlight the benefits this team can provide to our team.  With a partnership spanning over 10 years, there’s no one we trust more than Khanh, Simon and the team down at Lakeside.  What’s even better is they get us…yes, the crazy triathletes that want to keep training, the ones who can’t bear to miss a session, the ones who obsess over niggles and the ones who need constant maintenance and reassurance as race day looms…. yes, US!  They are there to work towards your goals and will liaise closely with Ollie to ensure loads, programs, expectations, deadlines (you name it), are managed collaboratively.  But we get that sometimes it can be tricky to know who’s who, when they’re working or to get an appointment.  We’ve sorted it!  By putting together a page outlining the whole team (pics included!!!), when they work and have included a direct link to the Practice Manager, Tayla who will help TA athletes find just the ‘right’ time (or squeeze one in!).  Can’t stress how important this one is, so take some time to have a read.

Now, flash back to last week...fresh off the back of race #3.  I bet you've all been waiting for the RECAP OF THE SEASON - Steph v Gaz!  Well, here it is and it does not disappoint.  Let's delve into the minds of these two, before, during and after the battle!
And apologies from me - I forgot 2 very important members off our results list from last week (#brainfade)!  Jen & Doug both raced really well in the Fun Tri race finished 6th and 7th respectively in the 50+ category.  Jen even had the fastest bike split in her AG!!!

Quick housekeeping before we go:

  • Monday 27th January = public holiday (no MSAC)
  • 4 lanes at every Mon & Wed swim squad session

Steph: Thank you to Gaz for agreeing to the challenge, it’s pretty nerve racking to put yourself out there like we did and honestly, neither of us knew what would happen, we had inklings about a few of the legs in particular but all in all, and as we all know, anything can happen on race day and knowing that there was a greater purpose I think helped us both.


Both: Thank you to everyone for your support, whether you donated financially, bet on us, sent us messages of support and encouragement or were there on race day cheering us on! We could not have been happier with the support and morale that this challenge attracted. It means so much to us and is exactly the reason why we do what we do!

The Best Team In Town

Tri-Alliance has been working with Lakeside Sports Medicine Centre for well over 10 years now, and there's no one we trust more with our athlete care than these guys and girls.  They regularly treat a range of conditions from acute sporting injuries to chronic pain symptoms as well as assisting athletes with rehabilitation and providing complete care plans, tailored to suit the individual.  Best of all, Lakeside liaise closely with coaches at Tri-Alliance, to ensure all parties are informed, are aware of both program requirements and everyone can work towards the same goal.

Tr-Alliance athletes receive a 10% discount off appointments and can speak directly with Practice Manager Tayla if there's any trouble getting appointments ([email protected])

Lakeside is open from 7am until 8pm Monday - Friday and 8am - 1pm on Saturdays.  Bookings can also be made directly online through HotDoc.

2020 Membership Announcement

Tri-Alliance is proud to be achieving such great results for all its athletes and to ensure we can continue to provide you with such exceptional service, we’ll be increasing our fees on all our coaching options, effective 10 February 2020.  Weekly memberships will rise by $1.  Tri-Alliance continues to do everything we can at our end to bring you great value at very reasonable prices and help absorb some of the rising overhead costs.  The decision is not made easily, but with ongoing pressure to expand our services, accommodate more athletes at sessions, build systems and increase coaching staff, we trust you’ll appreciate our position.
