RACES EVERYWHERE

What another stellar day for a race!  The weather once again turned it on for Ironman 70.3 Geelong yesterday.  With only a small field taking to the start line (1000 only!), it was a little quieter than what we are used to, but some hard-fought battles nevertheless. Well done to everyone who took part, and to Coach Greg for once again being official extraordinaire.  All results are included below.

It seems I'm getting rather hooked on these 'dates until...' countdown.  I love seeing all the races creeping closer and closer.  So, let’s take a look this week and put a little rocket up some of you:

  • 13 days until Race #5 at Elwood
  • 20 days until Challenge Shepparton
  • 27 days until Ironman 70.3 Melbourne
  • 34 days until Race #6 at St Kilda
  • 69 days until Ironman Australia (Port Macquarie)

With racing on the cards everywhere, there's one a little closer to home this weekend.  So close in fact, that it is going to impact our sessions.  At least we know about the Melbourne Teams Triathlon, happening at Elwood Park & Beach from 26-27th Feb (unlike the pop-up Subway infrastructure that threw a curveball our way Saturday morning!).  Read below for more details, and allow more time on Saturday for parking, movement, traffic, etc.

Speaking of parking, those inspectors were out with vengeance on Saturday, which prompted us to remind all of you that by being a member of Elwood Life Saving Club, you are able to apply for a Foreshore Club Parking Permit.  This takes all the hassle out of purchasing parking each week (or accidentally forgetting).  See below with all the info on how to join.

And finally, Elwood LSC held their Nipper's Championship on Sunday and it seems that the athletic genes run in the Chen family.  Little shoutout to Eddie for his superstar efforts!

Happy training everyone!  Enjoy Build Week 2 😊

Athlete Results
We had a small, but dedicated crew taking on IM 70.3 Geelong over the weekend.  Here's how they went:

Sebastian - unfortunately was unable to start the race due to illness.

Aurelie - in her debut 70.3 race, she did herself proud by finishing strong in 5:55:15.
Swim 37.54 / Bike 3:02 / Run 2:08

Team Montgumblebee - comprised of Monty swim/riding with Andy running.  They boys finished in a time of 5:37:51
Swim 42:35 / Bike 2:49 / Run 1:59

Team Wedding Singers - was made up of Enrique (swimmer), Juliet (rider) and Guli (runner).  They smashed out a time of 6:01:45
Swim 32:23 / Bike 2:59 / Run 2:24

Special shoutout to long-time friend of Tri-Alliance, Lotte Wilms, who had a dominating performance to win the female Pro Race.  This is her second 70.3 distance race and that's 2 wins from 2 starts for her!  Definitely big things coming her way.  Deservedly, as most of you who trained with her at TA will know, she trains her a** off to be able to perform when it counts.  Sending big congratulations Lotte's way from all of us!

Thanks to everyone who headed down to Geelong support.  Your efforts did not go unnoticed.

We have a long-standing partnership with Elwood Life Saving Club and always look to support the fantastic work they do for the community, both local and triathlon.  That is why we encourage our athletes to become ELSC members.

An added benefit of being a member, means you can apply for a Foreshore Club Parking Permit.  No more pesky parking tickets, no more remembering to buy your ticket before a session, and more freedom to park along the foreshore from Elwood to Port Melbourne!

You can renew your membership or register to become a member online following steps detailed in the linked PDF.

Members aged 18+ must have a current Working with Children Check with Elwood LSC listed. You will not be able to complete memberships without this.

Athlete Genes in the Family

Whilst is was disappointing that Sebastian was unable to part in IM 70.3 Geelong yesterday, all was not lost.  He packed the kids in the car and made a beeline for Elwood as soon as he could, to get them on the start line of the ELSC Nipper's Championship.

Eddie smashed it placing 1st in the Swimming and Paddle events and 3rd in the Flag and Sprint events.  This culminated in an overall 1st for his age group!

We think Sebastian better watch out! He's got serious competition on his hands!
