THE TIME HAS COME

Try-the-Tri-Athletes

Oh yeah.... it’s time for the local triathlon scene to get underway!  This Sunday will see the first of the 2XU races get underway on our home turf, Elwood!  And we will have a whole B U N C H of athletes in yellow and blue towing the line.  Shout out now to our first group of Try the Tri athletes making their debut for the team.  Make sure you pop along to be part of the fun, cheer them on, help them out or just to grab a sausage.  We’ll have the full TA TAJ hospitalities going, with Lakeside Sports Medicine for pre and post massages, ElliptiGO to help warm you up, BBQ to refuel the bods and of course the mega-complex to house all your belongings and keep you (dry, warm, shaded, sheltered….who knows?!?) on the day.  We’re doing a call up for helpers with the Tri Kids race, tent and BBQ prep, so please follow prompts below.

If you’ve left getting yourselves organised until the last minute, we can help.  New 2018 tri suits are IN STOCK and can be in your hot little hands for race day.  Improved fabric, improved comfortability, and improved athlete appeal (#BeMoreLikeDan), need we say more?!?  We’ve also got elastic laces, Body Glide, Shotz Nutrition and probably everything else you’ll need.  Just get in touch or grab us at a session and we’ll hook you up!

And whilst we’re all racing here in Melbs, were sending GOOD LUCK racing vibes to Simon Gronow, who will be heading north to compete in Ironman 70.3 Western Sydney this weekend.  Simon has been doing his prep with a couple of our Busso ladies and coming off the back of Noosa, should be heading in with a good build.  We wish you the very best for the day, Simon and hope Penrith Lake is calm, the scenic ride with views of the Blue Mountains has the wind at your back and the run course along The Great River Walk is flat and full of friendly faces!  We look forward to reading the race report.

Do you L~O~V~E triathlon as much as we do?  Well, we’re on the hunt for the next TA Ambassadors.  You don’t have to be the best athlete with the best results, you just have to be dedicated, consistent and want to share your experience, support and encouragement with fellow team mates.  Deets below, but we need nominations in A-S-A-P so we can open the voting lines and get the envelopes ready for unveiling on December 6th at our Melb Street Eatz social night.  So, who do you think would make a good Ambassador?

And don’t miss one of our key social events on the TA calendar…the Christmas party!  Lawn bowls, BBQ nibbles and festive drinks at St Kilda bowling club from 3pm on 16th December.  Due to the popular success of Stealing Santa, we are expanding this year to include the lads.  So, if you would like to partake in a bit of fun and nonsense, get your ticket NOW.

Change of pace… November = Movember and now is the time to sit up and take notice about some of the biggest health issues facing men.  Across the world, men die an average 6 years younger than women, and for reasons that are largely preventable, which means it doesn’t have to be that way.  Two of our own have joined the movement and we want to get behind them.  You’ll see Andy sporting a rainbow mohawk, but what colour will Dan’s mo be?  Please take the time to read about their Mo Campaigns below.

Ok…this week is a big one….so is next week….and so it the week after…. Heck, it’ll be busy from now until Christmas.  So, keep reading to keep up to date with all the Tri Alliance goodness.

Time to READ ON team!

Who has stepped into the shower, eyes closed, teeth gritted, ready for that painful sting of water hitting post-race trisuit chaffing? I know, I’m sorry to make you think about it! This was me, just last week after Noosa Tri, feeling a bit worse for wear (thanks to a variety of other factors), stepping into the shower thinking that painful sting was the last thing I needed. And do you know what happened? Nothing happened! Oh...My...Goodness. How is this even possible you ask?? The weather was hotter than last year, I started 2 hours later (hotter again) than last year, I used nothing to prevent chaffing before the race, I poured gallons of water over myself to keep cool…and yet, I was chafe free!! Woohoo!
Not only do I feel racier and faster, not only am I easy to spot and attract #allofthecheers, but I had zero chaffing and no wet nappy feeling in my new trisuit…ah-mazing!
And if that wasn’t enough, a week later I found myself cheering on everyone at Challenge Shepp, completely blown away by just how good the new TA trisuits look!
So if you haven’t already jumped on board the new trisuit bandwagon, get on it!! You’re just in time for the start of the season and we guarantee you will get extra cheers…so come on, don’t be like some people at Challenge Shepp in non-TA suits who only got cheers once they were 200m down the road and we’d finally realised we knew them (we tried our best, I promise!)…no, don’t be like them, be more like Dan!
TRI KIDS

Helpers Needed
The future stars of our crazy sport will be kicking off proceedings on Sunday morning with the Carman's Tri Kids race.  We're looking for some friendly faces to come and give these little ones a hand.  It's super easy, they just need help with:
* lining up in their AGs
* walking to the start line
* being pointed in the right direction
* putting on tops, shorts, shoes (after the swim)
* racking and moving bikes
* encouragement to keep going
* smiles for miles and high 5s all round!

Meet at the TA Tent at 6:30am for briefing in bike compound at 6:45am.  The more the merrier.  Let's get around these gems of the sport!

The TA Way
Do you love Triathlon as much as we do?

Every year, we're excited to find a male and female athlete to become a Tri-Alliance Ambassador for the upcoming Triathlon Season and share their experience, support and encouragement with fellow team mates.

To be an ambassador for Tri-Alliance, you don’t have to be the best athlete with the best results, you just have to be dedicated, consistent and openly support the TA Way.

Tri-Alliance Ambassadors will display characteristics such as positive and motivational attitude, consistently train and attend Tri-Alliance coached sessions, encourage and support fellow athletes and have a genuine and strong passion for Tri-Alliance and the sport of Triathlon.

In return, Tri-Alliance in conjunction with our partners, Mizuno Running, Giant South Yarra and Orca, will support YOU and your training through apparel and product support.

IMPORTANT TIMELINE:
Nominations are open NOW and closing Tuesday 27th Nov.
Voting will commence following.
Ambassadors announced 6th Dec

A key social event on our calendar!
Christmas is the festive season – and triathletes are no different than everyone else (well, maybe……) but we all still celebrate Christmas and this event is looked forward to each year. It’s a time to get together, (outside of lycra), relax, have fun and be merry!

Lawn bowls, BBQ nibbles and festive drinks (LFBs for many of us) at St Kilda bowling club from 3pm onwards.

Due to the popular success of Secret Santa last year, we are expanding this year to include the lads.  So if you would like to partake in a bit of fun and nonsense, send Bondy an email to get all the details

MOVEMBER

Dan Brueckner

Going into my 6th Movember I did ask myself the question "Am I doing this again?" and came up with the answer "Yes"
Over the last few years I have had close mates who have had some close mates who have gone through their cancer battles - successfully - so me growing a mo for one month of the year and raising some funds towards cancer research and facilities is a small contribution for a very important cause.  As per previous years the colour with the highest donations wins. Votes need to be in by Thursday 22nd November.
