KEEPING OUR EYES ON THE PRIZE!

Welcome the start of Build Week #2.  You all know what that means – keep pushing through this week to round out the build phase and reap the benefits next week as you recover.

I guess like us, you were all probably eagerly anticipating what D.Andrews would announce yesterday.  And whilst we all had our thoughts and opinions about what ‘might’ happen, I guess it’s good to finally have a clearer picture of where the end of the tunnel is.  And it is pretty clear…vaccination thresholds are key to the government’s strategic plan.  We’ve included more detail below about the relevant points to us as a squad and a link to the full roadmap, but we want to once again encourage all our athletes to act within current public health guidelines.  It’s fantastic if you have the opportunity to train with others, but please adhere to restrictions, such as the person limits, the 4hr timeframe and the 10km radius.  The plan is in place to increasing all of these boundaries, so we must now all follow the plan.

About the plan, well at least your programs…the new ones are up and ready to go for the next block.  And so are the run-specific programs, for those targeting Melbourne Marathon.  Make sure you can see yours and get in touch if you have any issues.  Special note for long course athletes, you will notice the addition of Hybrid weekend rides.  This is to navigate a balance between taking advantage of the increased hours allowed riding outdoors and breaking up the monotony of sitting on the trainer, with ensuring full kms are still covered and a solid quality workout.  If you need further explanation of these sessions, touch base with Ollie before the weekend.

It’s not too late, but almost is, to snap up a Garmin!  Have you been thinking about upgrading?  Do you need to think about a Christmas present…? for yourself!  Well, we want to give you the heads up now, so you can avoid disappointment later. We know that there will be no new releases of devices this year, so this is your last chance before Christmas to snag yourself a great deal.  There's a deal for everyone - short course, long course, overdue upgrades!  All the info is below, but if you don’t act fast, don’t say we didn’t warn you!

And finally, an event to keep you focussed on your wellbeing…The 2XU Wellness Run.  There’s a 5km, 10km or 21.1km distance on the 5th December along our beloved Beach Rd.  We have registered Tri-Alliance as a team, so you can get a discounted entry!  See the link below.

Looks like a good couple of days ahead to get a solid workout done indoors!  So rug up, stay well and keep the momentum going.  Oh….and cover pic this week for just a small dose of cuteness for you all!!!  You’re welcome xx

Getting Back Together - Victoria's Roadmap

We've been wait patiently, and yesterday the news finally came - the roadmap for getting the gang back together again!  Amongst all the numbers and percentages, we could hear the good news.  So, we are keeping our eyes firmly on those bright spots and counting down the days until this happens.  You can read all the details in the linked infographic below, but a quick summary relevant to us (as we understand it):

* From 26 Sept, you can train in a group of 5 adults (all double vaccinated) from max 2 households within 4hrs and 10kms radius.

* From 26 Oct, community sport permitted outdoors only for training. Minimum numbers. Fully vaccinated: 50 cap, DQ4.
Outdoor swimming pools reopened.  Fully vaccinated, DQ4, 50 cap.  Changing rooms closed.

* From 5 Nov, community sport permitted indoors
and outdoors with minimum numbers.  Fully vaccinated: Indoors DQ4 and 150
cap, outdoors DQ2 500 cap.
Indoor and outdoor pools opened.  Fully vaccinated: Indoors DQ4 and 150
cap, outdoors DQ2 500 cap.

Of course we will be in regular communication as we learn more about these key milestones and what it means for us.  But you can see that the Nov 5 date is still in time for Race #1 of the 2XU series.  I guess we just have to wait to hear about the decision on mass-participation events.  Regardless, we encourage all athletes to stick to the plan and prepare with those race goals in mind.

*** Note - these are indicative dates and are based on vaccination thresholds and subject to Public Health consideration of epidemiology at the time ***
