🌍Woolongong Takes Centre Stage

What a weekend it was on the NSW South Coast! The 2025 World Triathlon Championship Finals took over Wollongong, transforming the foreshore into a buzzing triathlon playground. The world’s best went head-to-head under blue skies, and the home crowd got plenty to cheer about.

Aussie Matt Hauser delivered the dream result.  Taking the elite men’s title on home soil with a gutsy all-round performance that had the crowds roaring. In the U23 women’s, another Aussie star shone through with gold.  A brilliant weekend for green and gold fans all around.

For Team Tri-Alliance, we were proudly represented across both the Sprint and Standard (Olympic) distances:
🏊‍♀️ Natalie tackled the Sprint event with a time of 1:23:12, finishing mid-pack overall and 46th in her 40–44 age group.  No easy feat on a course stacked with the best in the world!
👨‍👩‍👧 The Burns family duo, Paul and Tegan, both took on the Standard distance.  Paul in 2:33:11 and Tegan in 2:22:59 (and 7th in her age group!). Huge effort from both father and daughter.
💪 Chris Dixon doubled up, completing the Standard in 2:20:17 and then backing up for the Sprint in 1:07:26. That’s serious commitment!

Massive congrats to all of our athletes who represented Tri-Alliance and Australia so well on the world stage. You should be very proud!

🏖️Try the Tri - Where it All Begins

Our first Try the Tri session kicked off at Elwood Beach on Saturday, and what a sight it was! New faces, new equipment, and that familiar mix of excitement and nerves that every triathlete remembers from their first day.

If you were out training nearby, you would’ve seen the energy (and maybe a few wobbly bikes). It’s always inspiring to watch newcomers take those first steps.  The courage it takes to show up and give it a go is where the journey truly begins.

If you’re around in the coming weeks, come say hello or lend a hand.  A friendly face can make all the difference for someone just starting out.

🔥Build Week #2 - Stack the Work

Here we are, hitting Build Week #2, the grind before the glory. The first week set the tone, this week is where you ramp the tempo and volume before the recovery week hits. Yes, the mornings may still bite and the race calendar might feel distant, but that’s precisely when you plant the seeds.
No secrets here: it’s about consistency, not chaos. Tick the boxes, trust your program, and remember that every session now adds sharpness, strength and stamina for the summer ahead.

And yes, Tuesday morning run and Thursday morning Hot Laps are both on the timetable. If you missed them last week, consider this your chance to make amends.

⏳Countdown to Race Season

✅ Wrap Up

From the world stage back to our own backyard, this week feels like a perfect reflection of what makes triathlon so great...big dreams, small starts and the shared grind in between.

Whether you’re racing under the lights in Wollongong or setting your alarm for another early session at Elwood, it’s all the same story: consistency wins.

Keep showing up, keep backing yourself, and remember...every finish line starts with a start line.

See you out there,
💛 Team TA
