As we move further into May, let’s take a moment to remind ourselves about the current training phase and its purpose. We’re in the Start of Technique & Base Training phase, which is the first phase of our yearly training cycle. Focusing on technique at the start of a training season is crucial as it significantly influences your training and performance in races throughout the season. Now is the perfect time to strengthen your swim stroke, correct your cycling form, and refine your running technique. Make the most of these sessions to build a solid foundation for the year ahead.

In case you missed the exciting news: our hoodies are back in stock and available for purchase! If you pre-ordered, they’re currently with Ollie and can be collected at any session. If you order now, they can be delivered to you at the next session. Don’t miss out on gearing up with these comfy and stylish hoodies!

Time to rally the troops to support our athletes heading to Cairns Ironman and Cairns 70.3 in June. Join us at Elwood Beach to create an electric atmosphere that will fuel our athletes' spirits. Bring your cowbells, cheers, and endless enthusiasm to show them how much we believe in their journey. After the training, we’ll celebrate their hard work with a BBQ. Feel free to bring something to share – the more, the merrier!

A quick reminder about our weekly membership and the payment platform we use. Some athletes have encountered unexpected fees, and we want to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Please read the full PDS below to stay informed.

Finally, sessions are as timetabled on the online timetable. There are only a few notable changes to be aware of:
* Tuesday morning running: ON for our Cairns athletes only.
* Thursday morning riding: Only programmed for Cairns athletes at this stage.
* Thursday night running: At The Tan for everyone!
* Saturday morning ride: Leaving 7 AM from Elwood for the majority of the squad. Only Cairns athletes should start earlier.

Strength & Endurance Training Phase

Start of Technique & Base Training

As we entered May, we began our Winter Training Season, marking the first of the five phases in our Yearly Planner.

Focusing on technique at the start of a training season is crucial, as it significantly influences both your training and, more importantly, your performance in races throughout the season. Our technique training covers all aspects of triathlon, including refining your swim stroke, cycling form, and running technique. This involves detailed work on each component, whether through adjustments in positioning or incorporating strength training.

Training sessions are designed with varying intensity levels to help you develop proper technique under different training loads. By starting your winter training in May, you'll establish a strong foundation in technique and base fitness, setting yourself up for success in the subsequent phases of our training program.

Show Your Support to Our IM-athletes

We're gearing up for the last big training weekend before Ironman & 70.3 Cairns, and we need your support to cheer on our incredible athletes as they make their final push towards race day!

Event Details
Date: Sunday 2 June

Kick-Off: athletes will start from 8:00 AM with the Full IM crew doing 33km.
Location: Our Home Ground, Elwood!

Come join us at Elwood Beach to create an electric atmosphere that will fuel our athletes' spirits. Bring your cowbells, cheers, and endless enthusiasm to show them how much we believe in their journey. After the training, we'll celebrate their hard work with a BBQ. Feel free to bring something to share – the more, the merrier!

This is more than just a training session; it’s a community coming together to support our athletes who have dedicated so much time and effort to their Ironman dreams. Let's make this day unforgettable and give them the boost they need to cross the finish line strong!

Ezidebit Fees

We wanted to give you a reminder and/or a heads-up about the fees charged by our third-party payment platform, Ezidebit.  These fees aren't set or collected by us, but it's important for you to be aware so you don't get caught out.

If a direct debit payment is dishonoured, Ezidebit charges a fee. We've managed to negotiate a lower rate, but if a payment bounces, you'll still be charged $21.90.

This usually happens due to insufficient funds, so please let us know ahead of time if you need to make alternate arrangements. If it's due to a bank error or something out of your control, we recommend contacting Ezidebit directly to explain the situation and request a refund.
