You always think you have plenty of time to train for your event, until it comes to race week, and you wish you had more time!  Don’t waste it – just be consistent!

We’ve had a great couple of sessions at Elwood over the last week.  It’s been awesome to have so many people down training, and the vibe is real!  We also had a large number of new Try the Tri participants kick off their program and many making the transition from TTT to SC recently.  If you have been missing the crew, get on down to a session.  You won’t regret it!  And thank you to those who stayed around to lend a hand on Saturday.  Having you all there for support was invaluable!

You’re in for a treat this week, as Mario has put pen to paper and jotted down his thoughts about his stellar Kona Qualifying race.  Take a read of Mario's race report to hear how the day unfolded, where he’s come from and what’s next to come for Mario.

If you registered for our recent athlete webinar presented by PILLAR, then it’s time to get your hands on the PILLAR samples.  They are all packed and ready to be collected.  Just make sure you see Michelle at a session soon to get yours.

And last but not least, we’d like to extend a very special congratulations to Coach Sarah who got married over the weekend!  Wishing her and Owen a lifetime of love and happiness.  And doughnuts!  We’re sure that doughnuts can just about be used in for every moment on the roller coaster ahead.  Enjoy married life!

Look forward to seeing you at a session soon!

(And for those playing along at home...Tam's race time was incorrectly printed in our newsletter last week!)
Gary 1:43:15 (7th overall / 6th male)
Tam 1:44:52 (9th overall / 2nd female)
Les 1:50:55 (15th overall / 11th male)
* don't forget to let me know if you enter the 2XU series independently (not under Tri-Alliance), so I can include you in our results wrap up!

Kona Qualifier - Mario
How Did Super Mario Do It?

Wow, how did that happen? Not quite sure but I’ll take it anyway.
Busselton Ironman 4th December 2023 is a day I will never forget, for all the right reasons. A day where years of hard work gave me a reward I really didn’t expect. This was a race that I had attempted in 2017, but with a shark sighting before the race start, the swim was called off.  This was my chance to finish off some unfinished business...

TRY THE TRI

Group #6 Has Started

We had our last group of Try the Tri participants start on Saturday, with an Orca wetsuit trial and swim session at Elwood.  There is a whopping 65 people signed up for this group, and whilst we only had close to 40 attend on Saturday, the sessions may increase over the coming week.
You may have seen us share the news, that this last group brings us to over 250 participants we have helped this season through our program.  We pride ourselves on being able to support new people get into our incredible sport and really grow the triathlon community from the ground up.
As we get to the pointy end of the season, and the races are closer together, we have a slight overlap of groups #5 and 6.  So, if you are around at a session and can see that someone needs help or advice or just a friendly face to encourage them to keep going (and this applies to the coaches too!), we'd love you to jump in.  Remember what it felt like when you were new, and everything sounded like double-dutch?!?!  Time to pay that back!
