Let me not take up too much of your time on this long weekend. But let us be excited that it’s Return to MSAC Week! Yes, the countdown is on, with only 4 sleeps until we hit the pool and welcome back the joys of squad swimming. Perhaps allow a little extra time to cover off the MSAC entry protocols and ensure you hit the water by 5.45am…. wow! We know that hour will be a shock to the system for some! For today and Wednesday, we’ll see you at Elwood Beach for open water swimming.
As mentioned last week, we really want to keep the fire burning so we will be heading to Albert Park Lake tomorrow morning for a Cup Day run session. Slightly later start, but what a great way to kick off the public holiday and make the most of this amazing weather. Meet Ollie at 7am at the south end of the lake.
Great to see more and more riders making their way back onto the road this week. It’s important not to lose those bike handling and bunch riding skills. Just a reminder that everyone needs to have visible Tri-Alliance apparel when in the group. This is for the safety of all. Head to the TriShop if you need to update your kit.
As always, there’s lots happening around the squad: * We have our first Try the Tri group for this season starting with us on Saturday, so you might see some new faces around the place. Remember how nervous you were when you were a newbie, so throw them a smile or a friendly hello if you are around. * Our coaches have been planning together in the background to ensure we continue to deliver quality coaching programs that meet all your needs this season. Stay tuned for an exciting new initiative we are getting up and running and how you can take advantage for personal improvement.
* With overseas travel back on the cards, there’s been lots of murmurings about a return to Thanyapura in 2022. This is a seriously intensive 10-day camp, for intermediate-advanced athletes looking to take their training (and performance) to the next level. Perfect timing for say, Busso! If you are considering the trip, it is important that you speak with Ollie in the first instance, especially before booking any flights. Having been there for many years now (and the one writing the program), he is the only one who will know if it is suitable for you to attend. Thanyapura is not for everyone, but don’t despair…we have 2 local camps that will be open to everyone! We’re putting Lorne (June) and Queenscliff (September) back on the 2022 calendar.
* Most of you would have seen the communication from Melb Marathon this week about the vaccination requirements for athletes, staff, spectators and volunteers. And couple that with the Cup Weekend festivities currently going ahead, we’re positive about a full return to racing, following similar guidelines. We’ll communicate expectations as soon as we know then.
* This is also a good time to remind those who need to, to update their membership. This needs to be actioned this week, to take effect in time for the deadline of Monday 8th November.
Still super pumped to be getting back to normality, and we hope you are all riding the same wave as us. Please reach out if you need to talk about anything, you want more information or you need help with switching your memberships over to be able to attend face-to-face sessions. As always, we are here to help. See y’all soon! |
