HELLO AUGUST

thanyapura-crew-2022

Welcome to a new month, a new training phase and a step closer to the end of Winter!  August signals the move from technique phase and into the strength endurance phase.  You should see this reflected in your programs and will definitely feel it at the sessions.  We’ve got a spiel below to take you through what this means, but just know that to get faster, you must be stronger.  And if you don’t start now, you are already behind. Strong athletes = fast athletes.

If your feed is anything like mine at the moment, it is steadily filling up with Thanyapura Training Camp spam!  I mean, it looks amazing, but who wants to see all those singlet tops and sunshine when we had a minus 0 start on Saturday!

The crew are thoroughly enjoying themselves and working their butts off to get some true gains in training performance.  I asked them for a quick reflection of their time so far:

"So far the camp has exceeded all my expectations.  It gives you the ability to train like an athlete and behave like one too!"

“Living that “Pro Triathlete Life”

“An amazing life experience in the most beautiful place (was told to say best coach too but who listens to their coach...... )”

“An opportunity to push yourself out of your comfort zone, push yourself a little harder, to push yourself to get a little faster, get a little stronger with some like-minded athletes that will become your lifelong friends amongst experienced coaches and state of the art training facilities!”

We look forward to hearing more from them over the coming week.  And look out when they get back…. they’ll be charging!

Now if all this camp talk has got you thinking, then we might have just what you need.  We are in the planning phase of our pre-season camp in Queenscliff, which usually takes place in September each year.  But until we can go any further, we really need to get an idea of numbers.  We have the opportunity this year to take advantage of the AFL Grand Final public holiday, and make it a true 3-day, long weekend camp.  Can we ask that you get your expression of interest in ASAP.  We need to hit minimum numbers to get the green light.

This pre-season camp is the perfect launchpad into the new racing season. The 2XU Series officially opened for registrations last week, outlining the 6-race series, across 5 months.  You would know by now, that your annual membership grants you 20% discount off these races.  But this year, Tri-Club discounts don’t come into play until September 1st.  Until then, there is an opening special for the month of August.  Regardless of when you enter, we want ALL OF YOU registered under Tri-Alliance.  So be sure to follow the steps below to make sure your points count towards the team.

And finally, I got word that because we haven’t been including the full timetable in the newsletter each week, many people thought that our sessions were not on (really???). Well, that is not the case, and we continue to go strong with 12+ sessions each week.  So, this week it’s back.  And since it’s back, I expect to see bumper numbers at all the sessions!

Happy training and I’ll be sure to check your attendance this week 😊

TRAINING PHASES

Dandenongs Winter Ride
Strength/Endurance Phase

The Strength and Endurance Phase is an important part of your Training Program and is the second phase of our five training phases in our Yearly Planner.
Development of your strength and endurance at this stage of the season is just as important as the initial base technique phase and will have a direct impact on your training and more importantly—racing, for the upcoming season.

Why Strength & Endurance?

* Endurance Development
* Strength Development
* Aerobic Improvement
* Technique Reinforcement
* Injury Prevention

All athletes need to complete a strength and endurance phase before they can move onto the next phase of our training —the Strength and Speed Phase.

Queenscliff-Camp
Pre-Season Camp in Queenscliff

Get race ready with a spike in training in Spring over three days.  It's the perfect launchpad into the new racing season.

Located along the stunning Bellarine Peninsula and situated on the waters of the heads, Queenscliff boasts terrific terrain for cycling, picturesque run trails along the coast and swimming in a beach that offers a variety of surf and flat waters.

Our combo sessions will be in full swing, with the preseason camp aimed at race-specific training, including all triathlon fundamentals and transition practice.

Groups will be split into race goals.  So whether you’re short or long course, opting for Olympic, Sprint or Fun during the coming series, or lacing up for Busstleton in December – there is something for everyone.

This is a whole team camp, so all levels are encouraged to attend to gain a final training spike before jumping into our preseason preparation phase.

Head HERE for even more details. Please note the price will need to updated for 2022 to reflect 3 full day camp.

We can only go ahead if we have enough numbers so we are seeking expressions of interest ASAP.

CONGRATULATIONS
We had another important congratulations that we missed last week.  Sarah was recently in Hawaii marrying the love of her life! Apparently there was no biking at all, but swimming with turtles was a must.  Wishing you lots of love and happiness xx
