HELLO SUMMER

squad-elwood

Welcome Summer!!! And welcome back to a full timetable of face-to-face sessions!!!  How good is it to get the band back together again and actually see, train and motivate each other IRL!!!  Not to mention coaching….we much prefer to be coaching you in the flesh also, so we’re just as excited as you are.   Don’t forget that we must still all abide by the "get in, train, get out" mantra, to ensure our sessions are run in a COVID-Safe manner.  So don’t be surprised if a coach needs to hit pause on your conversation at the end of a session, to be continued at a later time.  They’ll be more than happy to have a coaching consult with you outside of these times, but need to be leading by example and following our plan.  Hit the check in with a coach button down below if you’d like to chat.

There’s been a great uptake for our MSAC swim sessions, kicking off last night.  Coach Ollie and Coach Gaz were on deck to get the ball rolling, and it was perfect conditions with the sun shining on the outdoor pool.  There’s two more to come (Wednesday and Friday morning) this week, so if you’re planning on heading along make sure you read the new entry protocol below.

This week also sees the return of Hot Laps and the Saturday morning ride from Elwood for both our short and long course athletes.  It’s not too late join all the fun.  You’ll just need to make sure you’ve got your membership sorted.  From now on, those athletes on Go Solo memberships will continue to receive their programs, but will be unable to join group training sessions.  We explain this in more detail below.

And whilst we’re thinking about getting back into the training gear, it’s time to save the date for Hell Week.  If you’re new to this and thinking, What The????, make sure you read to the guide below as this is a whole lot of fun and not something you want to miss out on.

Big claps to those athletes who clocked their fast laps of Albert Park last week.  The results are in and verified.  These athletes have earned themselves double points for their efforts.  Good luck to those tacking the public race tonight and to those heading out on the road to beat their times from Race #1.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at a session very soon!

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

Tri-Alliance-Squad
Tri-Alliance Memberships

What a year we have been through...and thank goodness we are coming out the other side of it.  We are just about back to a full timetable of coached sessions and couldn't be happier.

We were really proud to be able to keep our community together during those lockdown months with the quick implementation of the Go Solo programs.  The half price memberships and the option to Go Virtual on 17 sessions per week was our little way to help out the TA Family in a time of uncertainty for many.

It's now time for us to look forward and start our COVID normal.  Due to popular demand, the Go Solo membership option will be staying, with a few tweaks.  We need to bring it in line with normal pricing, and these memberships will be for programs only, no group squad training sessions.  There is one exception, the Tuesday night wind trainer will remain virtual and be open to all training memberships.

We’d like to offer a grace period for the change in pricing, so beginning January 1st the Go Solo short course membership will be $40 p/wk and the Go Solo long course membership will be $44 p/wk.

If you would like to attend group training, our short and long course membership options are now back in force.  Go Solo members are no longer able to attend squad sessions from now on.

Athletes have full control over all their membership options, via their TA Dashboard.  These can be amended at any time, including annual memberships.  If you have any questions or need a hand accessing yours, feel free to get in touch and we’ll help you out!

hell-week-3
Are You Up For The Challenge?

For those new to the concept, Hell Week is a week-long period of completing a triathlon every day for one week.  In a nutshell, we're setting you a personal challenging to run, ride and swim every day, which will replace normal timetable sessions in late December at MSAC, Elwood and Albert Park.

The aim of Hell Week is to provide athletes with a serious spike in their training, running from December 19-27, with the exception of Christmas Day (or go ahead and do Christmas day if you’re feeling exceptionally hell-ish!).

It is simple:
6am – Group Ride from Elwood Lifesaving Club every day, followed by a run off the bike, and then a swim to cool off
OR
6pm – Open water swim from Elwood Lifesaving Club (if you didn’t swim in the AM)

*Hell Week sessions are uncoached sessions.  Coaches may be out with you completing their own Hell Week Challenge.  Athletes are encouraged to complete sessions with like-minded others.  The above is a suggested schedule to help group athletes accordingly.

VIRTUAL RACE SERIES 2.0

TA VRS 2.0 2020 - NL Banner
#TAVRS2020

Ok, the results are in for Race #2 of Series 2, with some fast lap times of Albert Park Lake.  The times were very close, with seconds separating our place getters in both the overall category and the fastest laps.

Big claps to those who participated, earning themselves double points for their efforts.  See link below for full results.

Race #3 is happening tonight, with a public Zwift race, aptly titled 'ZHQ FutureWorks Crit City Race - Anti-sandbagging'.  Due to simultaneous SC/LC WT sessions, there will be no Zoom available for this race. Go hard everyone and we look forward to seeing those results come in!

If you are racing Windtrainer Women/Men or Outdoor Women/Men, this week you get to test yourself from Race #1 – we’re back to a 30 minute race seeing what distance you can cover in that time. Submit your .csv file, with your name in the file title, to [email protected]

If you are not setup yet, head to the TA website for all the details.

Don't forget to share your race day selfies & photos, and be sure to tag @trialliance and use the hashtag #TAVRS2020
