Congratulations to everyone who braved the wind and rain to complete their first century ride! Speaking of centuries...one of our long-time TA family members hit her first century on the trails too!
We loved seeing all of the different goals that people accomplished over the weekend. Keep up the good work; the races are quickly approaching! Whilst we're talking about races, our Melbourne Marathoners have completed their final long run!! Not long to go until their race day!

Strength/Endurance/Speed Training

Today marks the start of the neXT training phase.  Less than 3 months before the Melbourne triathlon season kicks into action, time to turn our attention to speed.  If you've done the work so far, you'll be ready to put that strength into action.
Our sessions during this phase combine strength, endurance and speed/threshold training. Short Course athletes will focus more on threshold, while long course athletes focus on endurance incorporating threshold. Beginner athletes just starting out for the season will focus on triathlon specific sessions including base fitness, technique and triathlon skills.

We Need Your Data

Hi Team,

We are looking for volunteer data to help us on our crusade to improve our coaching services to you.  One of our new projects is to develop a machine-learning process that helps us develop an accurate method of prescribing your run workouts and forecasting potential race results, based on ongoing training data.

In the first instance, we can punch out all your training zones (TZ) and run times based on those zones.  As we collect more data this can be defined more accurately and you will have a more personalised experience in regards to your run training.

It will also help us develop a user-friendly add-on for our dashboard (currently under development). We urge as many of you to participate as possible.

HIGHLIGHTS

Michelle Surf Coast Century
Surf Coast Century Finisher

Huge congratulations to Michelle Grocock for finishing her first 100km trail run over the weekend!!!

Wow, what a day (and night - crossed the finish line at 2am - well past my bedtime, and may or may not have drank champagne with Tracey until just before 4am…). Surf Coast Century - my first 100km trail run completion. Just over 2,000m of climbing.
While it was a long, slow day for me, finishing it was never in doubt. I’ve done a lot over the last couple of years to really focus on the mental side of ultrarunning. I went though highs and lows, as you do in any endurance event, but the determination was there throughout.
So for me the event was all about pacing, not going too hard, and knowing when I just needed to hike to make sure I finished. It’s the first race I’ve done where I’ve had to keep a keen eye on the cut off times at each stage, but I always stayed comfortably in front. I’m looking forward to getting a good training build ahead of the next event.
