I have to start this week by sharing one of the funniest emails I have received in a long time! It came about a minute after the newsletter had been distributed last week. I immediately thought, “Uh oh…this can’t be good news…brace yourself, Bondy”. But I was wrong. I instead had a genuine LOL moment, and it turned my day around. So this, from one of our more senior male members of the TA Family, in response to me apologizing for mucking up the swim squad session last week:
"No need to apologise for Monday.
I joined in and came 8th in the girls under 12 backstroke.
So, winner!"
So good! We all need to remember not to take ourselves so seriously all the time and that laughter really is good for the soul!
In saying that, who’s up for a whole night of laughter and good times (me..me..me!!!)? Well, it’s finally here. The long-awaited End of Season Party…That Almost Didn’t Happen (that’s its official title). We really wanted the opportunity to have as many TA Family members in the one place and the one time to celebrate everyone for getting through the last year and to let our hair down a little with our tri-buddies, who have been there every step of the way. The good news about the timing means we can also have all our long course athletes join us! It’ll be a cocktail party, with loads of finger foods, drinks at bar prices and everyone is welcome (including partners). Stay for as much of the night that suits you and bring your dancing shoes. Details and rsvp below. Tickets go on sale next week.
In sticking with the celebrations and good vibes, it was great to see so many out over the weekend participating/racing in events. Coach Steph and Rach took to Race 2 of the Southern Masters Cycling Club FulGaz Road Race Series. It was at Crib Point and by all reports it looks like they both had a great (and successful) day out! In the series there is one race each month, from April to Nov. If this sounds like a bit fun to you, then reach out to Coach Steph to get some more info and get involved.
Also over the weekend was The Great Ocean Road Running Festival. There was a whole host of events (ultra, marathon, half mara, 14km, 6km, 1.5km, 13km train, 6.5km trail and walk) and conditions look good. Results are still rolling in, but well done to everyone who took part in their chosen distance. It must have felt good to finally be able to put that training and fitness into action and you should all be really happy with your results. A little shoutout to Johnny Noel who completed the half marathon in 1:28:57, coming 5th in his Age Group!
Quick couple of notes about running to finish off: run sessions remain the same this week. There’ll be the two options on Thursday night and a long run option from Fairfield on Sunday. At The Tan this week, you will be greeted by Coach Steph. Keep an eye out for her by The Pillars for a 6:15pm start (she’ll no doubt be all rugged up, but you won’t miss her smile). And don’t let that smile fool you, she’s under strict instructions from the boss to make you work!
Oh, and all Lorne Camp attendees have been sent a link for a meeting tonight at 6pm with Ollie. If you haven’t received your link, get in touch ASAP to make sure you don’t miss out!
