Ironman Cairns is done and dusted for another year, and conditions were as expected – tropical! There was heat, there was rain, there was sun and the inevitable wind and humidity. But we would expect nothing less. This is one hell-uv-a race and it sorts the athletes out – that’s the point. Ironman is hard. It’s meant to be hard. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it! Tri-Alliance had 7 Ironman athletes racing, and another dozen in the 70.3 distance, with many of them tackling new distances for the first time. We’ve loved hearing their battle stories (race recaps) from the day, and know the best way is to hear it straight from them. So make sure you read the Weekend Wrap Up to check out all the details. Also in the wrap up, is a great race report from Bumble Bee about the recent Rapid Ascent Trail Run out in Plenty Gorge that he and Andrea ticked off. And there is also T.H.E cutest Insta Post of the Week that just melted my heart!
What else is done and dusted for another year is Lorne camp....but boy was this one a beauty. If you've been at sessions this week, we hope we're all giving you massive FOMO, coz it was *THAT* good! Stay tuned from a full wrap up in the coming weeks. So... how’s your lets-escape-the-cold-weather planning going? A trip to Thailand is just around the corner! Our camp will not only be an incredible opportunity to take your training and racing to the next level, but also a life experience to treasure. But there's only 3 spots left so you'll have to be quick!
Ok, straight back to reality and the sessions for this week. We’re planning on heading out to the Dandenongs for our ride on Saturday. If you are new to the squad, a beginner rider or a short course athlete, then your ride will begin from Wantirna Mall. We will take you up to Sky High so bring plenty of warm layers, nutrition and spares to get through the day. If you are a more advanced rider or a long course athlete, then your day will start slightly earlier from North Point Café. Also heading out to the Dandenongs, come prepared to ride long and hard. In saying all this, please keep a close eye on the VIC FB page later in the week as we monitor the weather. Sticking with the sessions of the week, we’ve decided to be all social like and have a friendly catch up after our run session this week. Please join us for a steak and a red wine after the Tan Run at the Arcadia Hotel, where we can unwind and have some time to chat, without trying to train (and breathe!) at the same time! More details below. And also a save the date for our upcoming Team Meeting! Ok...certainly enough chit-chatting from me. Just make sure you read through everything below to get across all the info. |
