Welcome to Race Week, Squaddies!

It's time to lace up those racing shoes, tighten those helmet straps, and get ready to dive headfirst into some epic race action! This week marks the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and sweat as we gear up for not one, but two massive events that will have the entire squad buzzing with excitement.

First off, we've got the final race of the 2XU series for 2023/24 happening in none other than the vibrant heart of St Kilda. With over 90 of our own athletes registered to compete, this is not just a race; it's a monumental showcase of our squad's strength, determination, and unwavering spirit. Let's paint St Kilda yellow and blue as we line up to tackle the course, support each other, and leave it all out there. And hey, don't forget to stick around post-race for a squad photo!  We are looking to get a team shot of as many of us as possible.  Let's capture this moment together, decked out in our TA gear, showcasing the power of unity and camaraderie.

But wait, there's more! As if one race wasn't enough, we've got a dedicated crew of Long Course warriors gearing up to conquer Ironman 70.3 Geelong on the very same day. Talk about a double dose of adrenaline! To all our Long Course athletes, you've put in the blood, sweat, and tears to get to this point, and now it's time to shine. Embrace the challenge, embrace the journey, and remember, how far you've come. We hope you have the race you deserve and want nothing but the best outcome for you all.  Go get 'em!

Now, let's address the elephant on the track – the F1 Grand Prix taking over Albert Park precinct. With our usual training grounds temporarily out of bounds, we've had to shake things up a bit. But fear not! We've adapted and overcome, moving our sessions to new locations and ensuring that nothing stands in the way of our race day preparations. Be sure to double-check the updated timetable for session details and locations, and let's make the most of this minor detour on our road to greatness.

Quick heads up – the early bird pricing for our exclusive Triathlon Training Camp in Thanyapura, Thailand, ends this week! If you've been on the fence about joining us for this epic 10-day adventure, now's the time to seize the opportunity and lock in those savings. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this chance to take your triathlon game to new heights while basking in the tropical paradise of Thailand.

As we dive headfirst into Race Week, let's remember the words of the legendary Muhammad Ali: "Don't count the days, make the days count." Every moment, every stride, every action brings us closer to our goals. Let's harness that fire within, push our limits, and finish off this season with a resounding BANG!

See you at the start line, TA!

RACE WEEKEND

St-Kilda

Pre-Race Session

Meet at Catani Gardens by 6.45am.
First, we will ride one lap of the bike course (approx. 13kms), followed by a run off the bike (1 - 2.5km) and then a swim in the marina. All of this will be at an easy effort to get us ready for race day!

We then set up the TA Taj (Tri-Alliance Tent), this is where we hang out, get ready, keep our bags on race day.

Bring everything, we will be riding on the road so make sure you have lights, a phone, sunglasses, helmet etc.  Wear whatever you feel comfortable riding and running in. Most athletes wear their trisuit to easily ride, run and swim in.

TriKids Briefing

TriKids Race

The future stars of our crazy sport will be giving it their all on Sunday morning in the Tri Kids race.  We're looking for some friendly faces to come and give these little ones a hand.

It's super easy, they just need help with:

* lining up in their AGs
* walking to the start line
* being pointed in the right direction
* putting on tops, shorts, shoes (after the swim)
* racking and moving bikes
* encouragement to keep going
* smiles for miles and high 5s all round!

Meet at the TA Tent at 10.30am for briefing in transition at 10.50am.  The more the merrier.  Let's get around these gems of the sport!

SESSION CHANGES DUE TO GRAND PRIX

Elwood-Open-Water

The Open Water Is Calling You!

Due to commitments with the Grand Prix, MSAC will be heavily impacted.  We need to relocate all our swim sessions for this week. That's great news as you get to make the most of open water swimming for the final days of the season and to prep you leading into the last race.

The sessions will be as follows:
    *  Monday 18th March - 6pm open water swim at Half Moon Bay
    *  Wednesday 20th March - 6.30am open water swim at Elwood Beach
    *  Friday 22nd March - 6.30am open water swim at Elwood Beach
    *  Monday 25th March - 6pm open water swim at Half Moon Bay

Naturally, we will assess conditions on the day, and program the session accordingly.  Please bring along all swim gear including wetsuits, paddles, fins, snorkel and resistance bands.  You will begin with a dryland warm up and hit the water at first light on Wednesday and Friday.

Runners at Albert Park Lake

Taking Our Intervals Beachside

We know access to the Albert Park precinct is becoming increasingly difficult, so for a couple of Tuesday morning run sessions we will move down the road to Middle Park.

We will meet just before 5:45am at the outdoor gym station on Beaconsfield Parade, opposite Armstrong Street, on:

    *  Tuesday 19th March
    *  Tuesday 26th March - yes, this is Recovery Week, but Ollie will still be down            there for the Long Course crew

This session will work on various pacing and intervals based on athlete ability and goals.

Online Wind Trainer Session

Outdoor Indoor Wind Trainer

What would be the chances that when we plan on an outdoor wind trainer set for something different, the weather gods decide otherwise and have scheduled "very high chance of showers most likely in the afternoon and evening" for Tuesday!

Urgh...

So, we'd rather be safe than sorry and for this week, we'll flip to an online platform.  Please use the link below to log in for a 6pm session.

Bunch Ride

Thursday Morning Road Ride

Obviously, the track will be out of action on Thursday to some vehicles that move slightly quicker than we do!

If you are still keen to spin the legs over, please meet Gaz at South Rd, to head south, for an hour of power (or pre-race roll).

Briefing at 5.40am sharp
Green Point, Brighton
5.45am roll out.
