Sweet, Sweet Recovery Week!

Ahhh, another recovery week. Time to take a step back, enjoy some rest and come back stronger. Why is recovery week important? During a rest or recovery week, when the training load is reduced, the body adapts to the work that's been done. Muscles heal and get stronger. All the work that's been applied can then be taken advantage of in future high-intensity workouts.

For some, enjoy the sleep ins! For those with a big goal in sight, we'll see you at some active recovery sessions. Reminder, this week's sessions:
* No Tuesday or Thursday morning session
* Friday's swim will be for advanced/ intermediate athletes only.
This week's Saturday ride we are back to riding as one!
 

Build Week #1 - Dandenongs
Build Week #2 - Kinglake/St Andrews
**Recovery Week - Mordialloc**

All rides will begin TOGETHER at 7:00am leaving from Mordialloc at the car park opposite Doyles - all athletes. Remember to check out the timetable for more details. We encourage everyone to continue riding outside each week unless it is too dangerous to do so.

Problems with Sleep?
We're asking all of our seasoned athletes to respond with their greatest tips for improving sleep. Do you have trouble drifting off to sleep following an evening workout? Have you discovered a strategy to help you come down from the endorphin high? Do you have any advice to offer our newbies? Please get in touch with us! To aid in the idea gathering process, I'll be sending out a post this week (so keep a watch out!). Or if you think you've got more to add, us an email.  Come on...give us your best! We've got athletes out there that are counting on you, to help them stop counting sheep!

"I’ve never been a fan of gnocchi, but the lure of this recipe got me…and I’m so glad I made it.  It was delicious and SO easy to make!"

Greg wanted to remind everyone that Sunday run sessions at Fairfield are on. Greg will be there rain or shine to help with your winter strength building. Don't leave it until the triathlon season...

Friday 22 July:

  • 5.45am - Intermediate & Advanced athletes only – Squad Swimming at MSAC.  Session will begin with dryland band warm up.  Also bring pull buoy, paddles, fins, etc.  Outdoor pool.  All athletes to adhere to MSAC entry protocols. 50m lanes.

Saturday 23 July:

  • All Athletes - 7:00am - Mordialloc - All rides will begin TOGETHER from Mordialloc at the car park opposite Doyles. Refer to map in the online timetable.
  • Everyone must bring appropriate nutrition and ensure you carry spares, money and mobile phone.  Wear clothing appropriate to the conditions with Tri-Alliance riding gear mandatory.
