KICKING OFF THE RACING CAMPAIGN

What an incredible weekend away with an awesome bunch of people.  The location was spot on, we dodged a bullet with the weather (you just have to look at last weekend and next weekend to see we planned it 'juuuuuuust right'!) and we had a kick-ass group of athletes to share in this experience and kick start their racing campaign.

There was also a group of athletes in the same neck of the woods tackling Amy's Grand Fondo on Sunday.  But from what we hear, they didn't get quite as lucky as us with the weather.  Huge kudos to these guys and gals for smashing out this gruelling course.  Special shout out to our Orca extraordinaire (aka Lisa), who
"after 6 times riding this event I finally made the cut".  Now there's some real determination right there!

This week we've once again included the quick survey to gauge your interest in our Chick's Bike Night, we've got a nice little article about the reasons why sticking with a coach all year round can lead to large gains, and we felt it's time to get the band back together and head out for dinner Thursday night after our run.

BUT...most importantly, it's all about the NEW tri suits on the horizon.  Now is seriously the time to get yours personalised.  To ensure orders arrive in time for the season, we MUST have these to us by COB Friday.  No more personalised names after that date.  You've been warned.

The Ultimate Kick Start
Well done to all of our athletes for stepping outside their comfort zone, pushing beyond their imits (we knew they could do it!) and giving it their absolute all.  They will all be walking away from the weekend with a sense of pride and accomplishment, with a new level of fitness and with a few more friends and fellow crazy triathletes to share in their upcoming journies

We have a few thank yous to share and must acknowledge:

* Coach Gaz - who was there for everyone, stepped up and made it through every session (contrary to what his body wanted to do), ensured athletes were looked after, patients knew exactly when to take their medication and for being a general all round great Coach.  Oh...and did we mention that he did ALL the vacuuming.  We have photographic evidence as we're sure his wife would also like to see this phenomenon.

* Coach Steph - who although couldn't do much training, was still on the ground, ready and available to answer all of your questions, make sure you were in the right spots and basically manage the campsite whilst you were all out getting it done.  And really..the icing on the cake was ensuring you guys and gals had your personal paparazzi on hand to get just the right shot!

* Andy - I'm sure many of you are praising the work of A.Wood-Rich for getting your bikes in sparkling condition.  And he also stepped in with any bike maintenance, Garmin mapping or IT issues or pun-generating banter.  He's THAT guy!

* Narelle - for taking the time on her annual leave to bake the deliciousness that was our morning and afternoon teas.  We noticed a few athletes packing a goodie bag for their trip home!

TRAINING TIP

The Benefits of Year-Round Coaching

It's that time of year where we see the 'those who have' and the 'those who have not'.  Obviously there are reasons for both, and that's ok.  But it's tough for those returning to training now to face realtiy, to see the gains that have been made over winter and to participate in sessions without getting caught up with the 'those who have'.
This article by Jason Schisler goes through some reasons why it's better to stick with your coach for the long term.

SOCIAL NIGHT

Steak Night @ Arcadia Hotel

This Thursday 19 September, come and join us after our Tan run session to check in on one athoner (#RUOK).  Let's have some social time over a steak and a glass of red.  Arcadia Hotel is very used to athletes dropping by after training sessions, so just bring something warm, and as you can see from the pic, we go as we are.  Oh...did I mention they have $12 T-Bones on Thursdays????   We're looking forward to seeing lots of happy faces there!
