What a great week to be out and about and enjoying getting back to normal-ish.  The weather is a charm and the hype surrounding the launch of the 2XU 2021 Race Series has helped to lift everyone's mood!

Our face-to-face sessions continued this week and we have more info about what's to come below.  We will be reintroducing some sessions, adding others, and converting some staples.  We have made the decision to switch out all flexibility sessions from this week to independent sessions to be covered in your own time.  You can access these via your programs.  And Friday morning strength sessions will also follow the program periodisation (i.e. not running on recovery weeks).  Don't forget that all in person sessions are run in a COVID-Safe manner with a strict "get in, train, get out" mantra. 

We kicked off the Virtual Race Series 2.0 this week (check out the results below) and athletes are already in the midst of completing Race #2.  If you haven't done so already, make sure you are registered so you don't miss out on all the pre-race details!

This week we also have a great article from Coach Gaz about the ins and outs of Hot Laps, just in time for their return!

Don't forget to keep checking in with each other to make sure your training buddies are okay, maybe you can even check in with them face to face!? If you can, please reach out if you need some support or someone to connect to during this time. Supporting each other no matter what is the TA way, and the Tri-Alliance family is all stronger for it.

What's The Plan?
We've had several face-to-face sessions over the past week and we've got to say...it's great to be back!!!  We hope you are as excited as we are to get involved!

Time to start planning the next phase of our return to sessions.  Here's a quick overview of what's to come:
* Monday swim sessions - will remain dryland until Hell Week.  Following this we should be back in the pool!
* Tuesdays wt will be online for the foreseeable future.
* Wednesday mornings will become an Open Water Swim at Elwood (hopefully from 25th Nov). 
* Programed Wednesday strength sessions to be completed in your own time. 
* Thursday hotties to return by the end of the month.
* Saturday morning rides OR a swim/run combo session should be able to resume from the 28th November.

For this week, sessions are strictly bookings only and are currently capped at 10 participants per session. Number limits will be adjusted as per DHHS guidelines. All athletes MUST be scanned in at each session they attend, to comply with our COVID-Safe plan (link below for access to full plan). 

In summary, ALL athletes must:
* wear a fitted mask at all times, except when undertaking strenuous exercise when you must carry your mask with you 
* maintain physical distancing by keeping at least 1.5 metres between you and another person
* carry and care for all personal belongings, including water bottles
* cover mouths and noses if coughing or sneezing
* not attend if feeling unwell

At face-to-face sessions, all athletes will be responsible for their own personal belongings, there will not be an opportunity to leave items in the van (including bikes) and there will be no bike racks, nor bag minding at Elwood. Athletes must bring their own full water bottle to avoid use of shared taps.

Due to strictly limited participant numbers, only registered athletes may attend the session and we will employ a "get in, train, get out" policy...you're just going to have to get really good at chats and catch ups whilst you're running or swimming! 

Current Overview of Timetable:
Monday – 6pm Dryland Swim
Tuesday – 6am Run Intervals at Albert Park Lake + 6pm Wind Trainer
Wednesday – 7am Strength + 6pm Dryland Swim
Thursday – 6am Hot Laps (Zwift) + 6pm Run and Open Water Swim at Elwood
Friday – 7am Strength
Saturday – 7am Ride (Go Virtual & Zwift)
Sunday – 8am Long Open Water Swim and Run at Elwood

There will not be an option to Go Virtual for face-to-face sessions, however, you can contact a coach any time prior to ensure you are across the requirements of your programmed session. Follow the link below to book your spot at a session!

The second instalment of the Tri-Alliance Virtual Race series kicked off on Sunday, with a test race to look back at how far we've come.

The race took athletes back to the familiar Sand and Sequoias, a 22.6km course in picturesque Watopia. It was great to see a mix up of the leaderboards and different athletes taking the reigns at the front of the pack.

Kudos to all those who got through the fast and furious Zwift race and those who headed out doors for a max 30min effort.  See link below for full results.

Race #2 is an outoor race for everyone.  Yep, you read that right - everyone will be riding out on the road and the ride can be completed any time between the 16th and 22nd of November.  Participants have already recieved their instructions, but if you have misplaced them or would still like to enter, shoot us an email to get on to it ASAP. 

Oh and don't forget, there will be double points awarded for the road races!

It's Time!

Due to restrictions, limited entries are opening Tuesday, so best to get in as soon as they open!

Just select "TRI-ALLIANCE" as your club when entering and hit "JOIN".  It will prompt you for a password, which you can get by choosing "Click here to request it".  You'll receive an email with the code and voila! 
(NB: be mindful that we are not attached to our computers 24/7, so if you send a request at the last minute, we cannot guarantee you will get a response straight away.  Business hours are appreciated).

The Original Hot Laps

You will start to see the return of these on the timetable on Thursday mornings and may be thinking to yourself, “I wonder what this all means, and why do I have to be an Intermediate or Advanced standard of rider in order to be able to do it?”

Well, for a start I’ll tell you what it isn’t! It’s not a special kind of dance you can get in one of “those” clubs in King St!  It’s riding laps of the Albert Park Lake road circuit, at speed, in a close-knit group.
