Recovery, recovery, there’s no one like recovery!

Woohoo, it’s recovery week, we made it! There have been lots of tired eyes, sore legs and lazy arms on athletes over the past two weeks which is exactly how you are meant to feel, so if that is you…well done, you’re following the program!

Remember, that we work hard for two weeks and we must then recover to reap the benefits of all that hard work we put in. Don’t forget that a lot of this happens whilst you’re asleep, so take the opportunity to sleep in on Tuesday and Thursday when you might normally be running or riding, and why not sleep in on Friday too, to really make the most of it! The sessions that are on this week are designed to help you recover too, so make sure that when the coach says T2, you’re doing T2!

We had a few things happening over the weekend despite the miserable weather, as well as an overseas racer from a couple of weeks back. Head to the Weekend Wrap to hear what everyone has been up to!

In the theme of recovery, this week we have an article from Coach Steph looking at how tired is too tired, an article on the importance of time trialing, as well as a reminder about our Orca night coming up and all of the weekend activities!

Why Do I Have To Time Trial?
They happen every 6 weeks over our Winter training schedule...but why?  Why do I have to repeat the same test?  Why am I racing the clock in the off season?  What are the benefits to me as an athlete?

Every had these questions go through your mind?  Well there is purpose behind time trialling and it's important you know why.

Orca has a 20yr track record as a leading sports apparel brand, predominantly in triathlon arena. Just as triathlon embodies endurance, stamina and versatility, so does every piece in the Orca collection.

Today, Orca is recognized as the preferred brand amongst new entrant and professional triathletes around the globe.  Our story is unique: In 1992, our founder, former triathlon champion Scott Unsworth set up Performance Speedsuits Ltd in his native New Zealand, spurred by a passion to create better, faster wetsuits than those on the market.

With additional bonuses of a large local factory outlet in Moorabbin, Orca often attending sessions at Elwood through summer with demo suits and our very own Coach Scotty working for them, you can’t go far wrong.

The range is not just wetsuits but also covers a wider range of gear for your Tri needs:
