This week is all about the power of the pause. We’re in Recovery Week, which means no Tuesday morning run and no Thursday morning Hot Laps. But don’t confuse recovery with “doing nothing.” Recovery is what allows your body to absorb the work from the last two builds, adapt, and come back stronger. Without it, there’s no progression. Just fatigue on top of fatigue. So, lean into it, let the body recharge, and be ready to go again next week when the cycle resets.
🏊 Back in the Water: Swim Training Reminder We had a cracking return to MSAC last week, and the momentum is building fast. If you’ve been in the pool consistently, keep stacking those sessions. If you’ve been a little “missing in action,” now’s the time to get moving again. Don’t panic if the first few feel rusty. Ease back with fewer sessions, focus on form and rebuild your swim fitness one lap at a time. The key is to get started. Squad swimming pushes you harder than you’ll ever go alone, and every metre in the bank now is a step toward race readiness.
🚴 Ride Long, Ride Smart Just because it’s Recovery Week doesn’t mean you can roll over and sleep through the long ride. Saturday is still your chance to put endurance in the legs. Keep it aerobic, keep it smooth, but don’t skip it. Hills should still feature. Strength endurance doesn’t switch off just because the program dials down the intensity. Think of this weekend as topping up the tank without draining it. Get the volume in, ride smart and arrive at next week’s Build ready to go.

📍Regional Racing SeriesThe Ballarat Duathlon is back on Friday 26th September (AFL Grand Final Eve), and it’s a big one. Not only does it host the Vic State Sprint Duathlon Champs, but it also kicks off the Triathlon Victoria Regional Series. The event features closed roads, a flat and scenic course, and race options for all levels (Sprint, Dash, Fun and Para categories). Entries start from just $25, making it one of the best-value race days around. Compete in at least two Regional Series events and you’ll qualify for series placings, with clubs also in the running for the Regional Club Champion title. It’s a great excuse for a road trip, a hit-out ahead of the season and a chance to support one of our regional clubs. 👉 Register for the Ballarat Duathlon here
✅ Wrap UpRecovery Week isn’t glamorous, but it’s where the magic happens. Respect the down week, keep swimming, get your endurance ride done and lock in your race season goals. These are the little steps that add up to big race-day results.
One session, one week, one cycle at a time. Keep moving forward. 💛 Team TA
