2XU RACE 3 WRAP UP, NEW MEMBERS, NEW SUITS, NEW GOALS & IT'S RECOVERY WEEK!

file-14-1-18-5-03-36-pm

What a GREAT weekend – we’re still riding the high from Race #3 of the 2XU series in St Kilda.  Tri Alliance had 60 athletes racing across all categories, so there certainly was a strong presence of blue and yellow out on course all day long.  The podiums were well used by our team and perhaps more importantly we had some athletes achieve massive goals this weekend by just getting themselves out of course! Congrats to all on getting out there, getting the job done and working towards those goals you have set for yourself.  We were bursting with pride watching all of you cross that finish line.

This is RECOVERY WEEK.  That’s right!  A time to let your body recover, to cement all the hard work you’ve been doing over the last few weeks, to rest a little more, to rejuvenate and to grow stronger.  Therefore, there are NO Tuesday or Thursday morning sessions this week – sleep in!  And check your program and the timetable for the Weekend sessions as volumes and times will be adjusted.

Lots happening around the squad at the moment.  2018 Tri Suits have been designed (new and improved fabric!!!) and samples are around for you to see and try (be prepared for lots of prancing).  Pre-Orders are a must and once we hit 30 sales we’ll be able to order them in.  We have lots of new faces around the squad at the moment, with new athletes graduating from TTT this weekend and a BIG group working towards Race 4.  Give them a hand or some friendly advice when you see them next, remember how daunting it was when you first started?  And if you haven’t done so already, remember to fill in your GOAL SURVEY for the season ahead.  Having both coaches and athletes on the same page and working closely together will help you to achieve your target.

MSAC PARKING UPDATE

msac-main-entrance

As of January 1, 2018, Parks Victoria have amended the pricing structure of parking at MSAC and surrounding Lakeside Stadium areas in Albert Park. This will heavily impact athletes who regularly train at MSAC and it is advised that you are fully aware of new restrictions and pricing structures in place that have now taken effect.

To break it down, your first hour of parking is free, followed by a charge of $5.20 per hour thereafter between 6 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday. However, after 5 pm you will be charged a once-off fee of $5.20, no matter the length of your stay. There are also license plate recognition gates you must pass through to enter, which will time your parking from entry to exit, allowing you to pay upon exit of the carpark. For further information, please click the link.

Where to find Free parking???

The best locations are found at the morning sessions with car parking on Lakeside Drive and the Lakeside carpark near the VIS are all free until 8 am.  If anything changes on this we will let you know.  Evenings there is parking on Canterbury and Kerferd Roads and with some searching on Google maps heaps of 2hr parking in all of the side streets within that precinct including Young street, Mills Street, Herbert Street, Herbert place, and the list goes on and on.

FILL IN YOUR GOAL SURVEY

checklist
Make sure you're ready

With a new year, comes a new set of goals.
What do you want to achieve? How will you achieve it?
By filling out your S.M.A.R.T goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely) you'll not only be able to work towards your goals, but we as coaches will be able assign the right program to help you work towards them. If you are thinking something more specific than what is in our goals survey such as; A race time you're chasing, a step up in distance or something more dialed-in like optimizing your swim stroke from a 2 minute time cycle down to a 1.50 time cycle - Then book in time with a coach to discuss.
We look forward to all of you filling out your goal survey so we can begin to work with you to achieve the outcome you desire.

CONGRATS TO OUR NEW TRIATHLETES

Get Around Our New Crew

Over the last seven weeks, we've had a fresh new intake of athletes and Try the Tri taking the plunge into the sport of triathlon, and as such have been training with us in the lead up to Race 3 and now 4 of the 2XU Series.

We wanted to embrace this group, and support them in their journey with training, particularly as they have learned the art of swimming, riding, running and transitions over the last several weeks.

Either way, Try the Tri 3 are all ready to graduate and have smashed their goals last weekend and Try the Tri 4 are super excited bunch reminiscent of TEAM ELITE! We’re wishing all of them the very best of luck with their progress. Go out there and enjoy and keep smiling!
