team-mo

We've returned from what was the most amazing, magical, wonderful, fun, romantic and relaxing time away and not only are we back refreshed and raring to go, but more importantly we are back as HUSBAND and WIFE!!!!!!  OMG! I think you only have to be around us for a couple of seconds to realize how happy we are :)  Thank you to everyone for the wishes, messages, hugs, love and support.  We feel truly lucky to be surrounded by such incredible people.   And yes, we have plenty of photos.  Hit us up any time, we're more than happy to share our beautiful memories with you all xxx
And even though we were away, there was lots happening behind the scenes.  Thanks to the athletes and coaches who stepped up and kept the squad ticking along superbly.  Never a doubt with such capable hands at the helm.  And we were busy working on some new initiative also!  We have a new partner, a new bunch of Try the Tri athletes starting, a new timetable for summer and new merchandise hitting the shelves.  Make sure you take in all the info below to stay up to date.
And last but not least, we had some AMAZING achievements over the weekend.  None bigger than Gaz & Nath competing in the Ironman World Champs in Kona.  Awesome work you two!  Read their recaps in the Wrap Up.  And kudos also goes to those athletes who took on the Melbourne Marathon Festival (Raph hit his goal of sub 3hrs and new PB for Mario) and the National Duathlon Champs in Richmond.
Short and sweet this week.  R>E>A>D  O>N!

INAS World Half Marathon Championships

Sport Inclusion Australia announced the team to represent Australia at the 2018 INAS World Half Marathon Championships in Coimbra, Portugal.  The team of 6 athletes and a coach all hail from Victoria and will be Australia’s first representatives at the Championships.  Our very own Monty Cooper and Chloe Turner, who are also coached by Liz Gosper, will take on the gruelling 21.1km event wearing the Australian uniform for the first time.
The championship for athletes with an intellectual impairment is being run in conjunction with an annual mass participation event that is expected to see a field of over 7,000 competitors running through the historic city of Coimbra.
The team departs on the 14th of October and competes on Sunday 21 October.  Very best of luck Chloe and Monty (and Jules who will also be participating on the day).  We hope you all have cracking races!

Newbies a Plenty!

It's that time of year again, when we start seeing lots of new athletes decide to try their hand at our sport and eagerly start turning up to Elwood Beach in hopes of learning all things triathlon to "get them through" their very first race!  Well, this weekend was no different....well, actually it was a little, as we had RECORD numbers turn out for our first Try the Tri program of the year.  We have over 60 participants registered and majority were keen to get themselves in the water ASAP.  Thank you so much to those athletes who wandered down, hung around and generally helped out over the weekend.  It was appreciated not only by the coaches, but the nervous new athletes as well.  If you are around any of these sessions over the coming weeks and notice anyone looking a little lost, please feel free to lend a hand, answer a question or two or just generally be 'available' as friendly face

ELWOOD LIFE SAVING CLUB

It's Time to Sign
We have had a great partnership with Elwood Life Saving Club for many years and we truly believe in supporting the amazing work they do.  That's why we're encouraging all our members to get behind the club and sign up as a member for the 2018/19 season.  Not only will this support our community, it will also provide you with the opportunity to be eligible for a foreshore parking pass (will save you loads in parking fees...or fines when you get done for forgetting!).  So,
Membership fees for the 2018/19 season will remain the same.  We ask that all members renew by 30 September 2018 so that you can continue to enjoy the activities provided by the Club.
We also ask that all members aged 18 and over ensure that you have a current Working with Children Check, which has Elwood LSC and Life Saving Victoria listed as organisations.  We will not be able to process your renewals without this due to changes that occurred under the Child Protection legislation last year.
