Get excited, it’s recovery week - woohoo! It’s cold and we are under strict stay at home orders, what better time to rest and recover! This is the week for stretching and rolling, soaking in the bath and naps on the couch. We don’t come to a stop completely, it is important to keep moving, our sessions are just slightly lower intensity than previous weeks.

You will have already started to see a few different faces running our virtual sessions this week, and this is going to continue! Staying connected and staying active together #physicallydistant #sociallyconnected is now more important than ever and we’re mixing up our online sessions to keep the good vibes going! Some of the sessions may even be different to what’s on your program...just to keep you on your toes…so you really don’t want to miss out on being there online! 

With a bit of extra time in recovery week, it’s a great opportunity to check in with your equipment and this week we want to check your laces! Do you still have your elastic laces in your runners? We know exactly how good elastic laces are in race season but did you know that they’re not great over the winter when we are getting some longer kilometres in on our runs? Read on below for all the details on which laces you should be wearing and when. 

This week we also have a reminder to check in with a coach if you need to refocus your training, as well as another TA family member to introduce and the most exciting news...save the date for an exciting virtual event, Tri-Alliance Trivia Night! 

As always, don’t forget to reach out if you need some support or someone to connect to during this time. We have all been there for each other so far and if we continue to look after and support each other, we will all be stronger for it.

Go Virtual
One week down, five to go (hopefully)! The re-introduction of Stage 3 restrictions brought our face to face sessions to an end last week :(
But you are not alone, our Go Virtual timetable is officially back up and running, including our virtual run sessions - Go Virtual link is now live in your program! 

As you will have seen, we are starting to mix up our virtual sessions with a few different faces across the week, including the return of Head Coach Ollie with his apprentice, Oscar! The content of these sessions may at times be complimentary to what appears your program, so you really don't want to miss out on being online at the session. 

Overview:
Monday – Dryland swim (Go Virtual) + Flex (Go Virtual)
Tuesday – Run Intervals (Go Virtual - not in recovery week) + Wind Trainer (Go Virtual) + Flex (Go Virtual)
Wednesday – Dryland swim (Go Virtual) + Strength (Go Virtual) + Flex (Go Virtual)
Thursday – Hot Laps (Zwift - not in recovery week) + Run Intervals (Go Virtual) + Flex (Independent)
Friday – Strength (Go Virtual) + Flex (Go Virtual)
Saturday – Ride (Go Virtual & Zwift) + Flex (Independent)
Sunday – Run (Go Virtual) + Flex (Independent)

It feels like a lifetime ago but thinking back to February for Race 4 of the 2XU Triathlon Series, and incidentally the last race of the season, we saw a great bunch of Try the Tri-ers join in on the fun. One of those eager beavers was Alan Viney who joined the TA family as soon as he could. Alan has done more training with us on Zoom than in person so you may not have even met him yet! Luckily, you can get to know him a bit better here...you'll be all set to chat to him about Jiu Jitsu and music festivals when we next get to meet in person!

Race Day Checklist
Don't forget to share your lockdown tips!

If you’re feeling a bit bummed about heading back into lockdown, that’s completely normal and understandable. If it’s taken the wind out of your sails, try this little tip...

Write a list of every lockdown-friendly activity, task or goal that you didn’t quite get to last lockdown, or that you have been thinking of doing but are yet to do. Nothing is off limits, be as creative as you can, step outside your comfort zone (from the comfort of your own home!), and be brave enough to challenge yourself.

See how many you can get...Coach Steph got to 20 in her first go, that's more than 3 per week for 6 weeks - between that and training, time might just fly by! 

Over the next week, see if you can get more than 20 activities and if you feel like sharing, send your list or some of your ideas to Coach Steph. A list of the best suggestions will be shared with everyone next week!
