STARTING THE YEAR ON A HIGH

First triathlon event for 2020 and boy was it a good one!  Great weather, great support and St Kilda had something for everyone – Fun Tri, Sprint and Olympic distances, Aquabike and the Kids race!  We had a whopping 76 athletes racing across the day, with some great results.  There were PBs a plenty, new distances conquered, boxes ticked, and First-Time finish lines feels!  No shortage of the Yellow and Blue Army, both on and off the course, repping the team colours, cheering, supporting and lending a hand to the Kidletes throughout the morning #TAFamily #SmilesForMiles

Once again we are blown away with the amazingness of our athletes.

QUICK ST KILDA STATS

  • 76 athletes racing for TA
  • 32 x Top 10 positions
  • 9 x podiums
  • 8 First Timers
  • 1 First Timer on the Podium
  • 2 x 1st place
  • 3 x 2nd place
  •  4 x 3rd place

Congratulations to everyone who raced, and make sure you see the full list of results, as it's not always about the positions.  A big shout out to Dorothee and Alex who made the top step in their respective distances and categories, and to Sue, Georgie, Dan, Lara, Jules, Toby and Mr Bond for their podium placings! And of course, how could we forget the epic battle between Steph & Gaz.  Stay tuned for a full reflection, but let's just say...it was close!  And the fundraising is not done yet, as we want to kick in some more with a gold-coin BBQ on Thursday night at Elwood.

Naturally, we’ve got loads more in this edition, including Rally the Troops for Geelong, Important 2020 update from WADA, an official notice to athletes regarding fees, a great blog from Michelle G about things to expect when tackling an Ironman, a HOT deal on a Garmin Flagship watch, and all the details for what’s happening this weekend.

The countdown is on, with 6 weeks to go, many of you are well on your way to the start line for IRONMAN 70.3 Geelong on Sunday 23 February 2020.

Not ready to race a 70.3? If you’re coming down to support, why not get a team together and join the fun. Change up your swim or take advantage of riding or running on closed roads! Teams will be allowed to run down the finish chute together and all will receive a towel and medal!

  2. Second place: $250 gift voucher

And it doesn’t stop there - any individual registered athlete who is affiliated with their TriClub will be in the draw to win an Esky filled with goodies for their club to enjoy on race day.

2020 Membership Announcement

Tri-Alliance is proud to be achieving such great results for all its athletes and to ensure we can continue to provide you with such exceptional service, we’ll be increasing our fees on all our coaching options, effective 10 February 2020.  Weekly memberships will rise by $1.  Tri-Alliance continues to do everything we can at our end to bring you great value at very reasonable prices and help absorb some of the rising overhead costs.  The decision is not made easily, but with ongoing pressure to expand our services, accommodate more athletes at sessions, build systems and increase coaching staff, we trust you’ll appreciate our position.
Please take some time to read the attached letter, which places our membership packages into perspective.

Thinking About Taking on an Ironman?
  1. It’s hard. Durr, no shit Sherlock. No, I mean it, it’s hard. You will need to make sacrifices. You will need as much mental determination as physical fitness. There are only 24 hours in every day and I’m guessing you have a job, a family, hopefully some friends as well? Do the maths….. And, no, sleep isn’t the thing that you sacrifice. That’s the quickest route to sickness.
